I was leading a life of ignorance until i believe was stopped by the higher forces. My life was all about job, family,home and not paying attention to my thoughts and life itself. When I lost my job couple of years ago and then there was a break in my life. I was forced to introspect my life . Fortunately, i have always trusted my way of living and always moved with the flow. I guess this attitude has helped me to accept the complete different life easily that i am living now. That's why, when I was ignorant of my actions, i never tried to change things as per my way. Accepted all good and the contrary in my life. When life halted and i began to pay attention to my life closely, especially my feelings and thoughts, i realized many things that needs to be changed. I fully dedicated myself in self improvement in every area of life. To my surprise,life unfolded in a complete different form of myself than before. I am so glad to say that i feel that i have now completely transformed into new person, completely liberated from all chains of thoughts which held my true personality. Reading is something which actually expands the wisdom of an individual, create new vision and help us to see life from totally new perspective. Soon i started asking question,what is that i can do whole day without feeling board or feeling drain of energy. Now I know it is something related to philosophy that i can work on 24/7 happily. I am glad to find this video and many more like this. Thank you so much for helping people like us to understand ourselves better and in return contribute our better self to the world.

He was not arrested, he proceeded to the court according to his own will, he could avoid proceeding to the court, according to the laws of his time.

Our neighbours share our environment, and we can only acquaint ourselves properly with their behaviour if we are personally connected. Of course everyone is equally valuable. Countries are valuable for the empowerment of individuals to speak and influence the governance of their personal homes.

Thank you for excellent work. I have one comment: besides the common belief, Socrates wrote many books, mainly dialogs. Most of what we have now, were written by Socrates. Then Plato and others took them one by one from his wife, Xanthippe, and as publishers put their names on them!

Skepticism is always your friend in this jaded world but some people take it too far. I think it is because it is easier to deny a big scary problem rather than buckle down and do all you can to make things better.

I have found most people tend to lean on philosophy,psychology & logic or to religious/ spiritual discourses only after retirement from mundane professional life! Actually only if these concepts are in built In life from early stages one would engage in creative meaningful work for the society & NOT for one's own selfish needs. You Would find God only in your good thoughts& deeds than in prayer gatherings or rituals or chanting !

If only we could practice Socrates theory as a whole, this world would be a better place to live. There's so much separation in this country alone, not including around the world, we're still divided by class, race and gender...etc. His philosophy on life has opened my mind to a different narrative of how I look at the negativity around me, I still find happiness, contentment, peace and laughter for myself. Socrates quoted, happiness requires the small things in life and require less effort. We need more "Socrates" in our world today, I truly enjoyed listening to his theories, he was a wonderful human being.

Yeah, I’ve had this problem about telling on workmates or taking the blame before. So I read stoicism and Marcus Aurelius says tell the truth, great I thought. That’s that sorted. Now I hear Socrates says the opposite, I’m back to square one, which is blaming the person who most recently left the firm.👍😂

In Plato's Cratylus, Socrates describes the god Pluto as "...the perfect and accomplished Sophist...", but in the same dialogue he also describes how names can be "disguised" by altering "...a letter or two..." By employing simple logic, it appears that Socrates has actually described Plato as "...the perfect and accomplished Sophist..." In Plato's Protagoras, Protagoras describes his fellow Sophists this way: “Now the art of the Sophist is, as I believe, of great antiquity; but in ancient times those who practiced it, fearing this odium, veiled and disguised themselves under various names, some under that of poets, as Homer, Hesiod, and Simonides, some, of hierophants and prophets, as Orpheus and Musaeus, and some, as I observe, even under the name of gymnastic‐masters, like Iccus of Tarentum, or the more recently celebrated Herodicus, now of Selymbria and formerly of Megara, who is a first‐rate Sophist. Your own Agathocles pretended to be a musician, but was really an eminent Sophist; also Pythocleides the Cean; and there were many others; and all of them, as I was saying, adopted these arts as veils or disguises because they were afraid of the odium which they would incur.” If this description of Sophists is applied to Plato, then it becomes obvious that Plato was employing Socrates as his "veil". If it is accepted that the connection between Pluto and Plato was intended to communicate Plato's true identity to other Sophists, then this introduction of the "Stranger" in Plato's Sophist offers confirmation that Socrates and others were simply "...made up for the occasion...": "Theodorus: Here we are, Socrates, true to our agreement of yesterday; and we bring with us a stranger from Elea, who is a disciple of Parmenides and Zeno, and a true philosopher. Socrates. Is he not rather a god, Theodorus, who comes to us in the disguise of a stranger? For Homer says that all the gods, and especially the god of strangers, are companions of the meek and just, and visit the good and evil among men. And may not your companion be one of those higher powers, a cross-examining deity, who has come to spy out our weakness in argument, and to cross-examine us? Theodorus: Nay, Socrates, he is not one of the disputatious sort-he is too good for that. And, in my opinion, he is not a god at all; but divine he certainly is, for this is a title which I should give to all philosophers." Socrates: Capital, my friend! and I may add that they are almost as hard to be discerned as the gods. For the true philosophers, and such as are not merely made up for the occasion..." Note that the initial identification of the Stranger as a "god" can be viewed as an allusion to Plato's identification with Pluto.

I actually started laughing at the end because everyone starts at me knowing I am say something and everyone is laughing. As I tell people, I don't know what poor is. Yes one of Socrates’ charges was impiety, but this doesn’t mean he “refused to believe in the gods.” In The Republic and The Apology he even attends Athenian religious festivals and there is no real evidence that he was actually some sort of staunch atheist or something. It’s very likely that he did subscribe to the religious norms of his Polis, that being Athens. His last words before his death were even about securing a sacrifice to Asclepius. Otherwise, fantastic video as usual!
