My first show was alpine valley from 2004. What a strange time it was to get into phish. Bought my tix and two weeks later they announced they were quitting

I always considered the Piper to be the crown jewel of this mix. But goddamn…. that Saratoga ASIHTOS is absolutely mind blowing. I also just love the sound of the Saratoga shows. At least on 6/19, Mike really comes through the mix.

I'm revisiting 2004 as one would revisit their own journals during dark times. Mainly here for the coventry ac/dc but now gotta experience this beautiful train wreck in it's entirety. Thanks for the upload!

2004 has so many batshit crazy jams. The highest peaks I think the band ever got to IMO. Make sure you check these out, not included here in this mix: Drowned 6/20/04 Crosseyed -> Slave 6/23/04 (both tunes, it’s my favorite Slave ever and it’s flawless) AC/DC Bag 8/10/04 (Coventry just aped this version IMO)

The Saratoga Piper is mind-numbingly great. According to one of the biographies, Trey famously said after one of the Saratoga sets something to the effect of, “If every show could be like this, I would reconsider breaking up”. Since I live in Vermont, not too far from Saratoga, I will forever regret not going to those shows. In hindsight, I would have gone to Saratoga instead of Coventry if I had the choice.

I couldn't make 6/19 SPAC but went to 6/20. That second set was fire! They don't play any 4 song second sets anymore 😅 Everything about Coventry was depressing honestly. "Lucky" enough to make it in but what an absolutely disaster of a show. People just sat around crying and mouths wide opened dumbfounded that this is how it all ends. I always figured they'd be back and luckily they did! I do feel tho I haven't really seen a good show since probably 2012.
