NOW we're talking! Maze rocks!! The "dress" is a Phish tradition- it started as a joke when the drummer found it in a second hand store or something, and put it on for a laugh- then decided he had to wear it on stage that night. Everyone loved it, and if he didn't wear it, everyone would ask where the dress was. So it became his trademark- part of what makes Phish so fun, funny, whimsical, and such a collection of "in jokes". That red/blue donut pattern is now a big identifying thing for fans- lots of merchandise exists with the red circles on blue.
@stevehildner56303 жыл бұрын
It's true. He actually looks weird, to me, without the dress. We saw them one time and Fishman was wearing a black Izod shirt, tucked into, like, chino pants, and he looked ridiculous. Ironic he looks weird when he looks normal. Far as we fans are concerned, he could wear a pink tutu, the way he plays those tubs. Like a preying mantis.
@newageancient859210 ай бұрын
From time to time Fishman (the drummer) plays the Electrolux vacuum cleaner (named Henrietta) in that dress…

It was Trey that insisted Jon wear it as often as possible. Jon thought is was a one off funny thing to do but the next night Trey was like, where’s the moo moo?? Jon didn’t think it was a thing but Trey had something else in mind haha. Those two have a special bond inside the amazing bond that is Phish. So grateful these guys came together🙏🏻

To get that the few lyrics at the beginning set the foundation of the song and the music tells the rest of the story on a first listen is amazing. This dude gets it. @volcomsnow253 жыл бұрын
Jamel a big thing to mention while watching Phish videos is the lights. There's actually a 5th member of the band and he runs the lights. His name is Chris Kuroda aka CK5. The biggest and most influential lighting director in the concert industry. He freestyles everything just like the band does and often dictates what the band decides to do and will adapt to what their playing to set a mood. In your last video, when the spot light hits Trey (guitar) he is indicating that he wants him to play by himself. At midnight every new years eve, he drops over 50k balloons on the whole crowd of Madison Square Garden and is one of the most amazing sights in the world (the sell out 4 nights in a row usually from 12/28-12/31 every year at msg). Everything about this band is intricate, thought out, and incredible. I could talk to you for days about all the stuff this band does. You're only cracking the surface. Hoping you really get to fully deep dive into them. I think the jam that completely captures everything about this band would be Ghost from 12/31/10. The end of tha jam makes people cry its so beautiful. I've tried and tried for you to see this, so if you have time I highly highly highly suggest checking it out. Ill include the link below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJaDmZudtMqrgqs.html

You've now seen two different sides of Phish! The absolute funk groove that is Tube, The deep, dark, winding, peaking madness that is Maze. I would love for you to see yet another side of Phish. The slow, beautiful, melodic, blissful side! This song, Slave to the Traffic Light, is an absolute Phan Phavorite and one that will bring tears to your eyes! @ THANK YOU for keeping great music alive!!

If you want to get a good sense of their ability to stretch in this decade, check out Magnaball (it's a festival, 2015) Tweezer > Prince Caspian :) it's 36 minutes total but it's a great glimpse into just how far they can stretch on basic musical riffs - keep on reacting! These are great

Possibly my all-time favourite Phish jam. Give me chills every time- the fact that it's so insanely tight that it sounds composed, but has SO MUCH emotion at the same time. Absolutely mind-blowing.

@@jefflove5829 the studio jam is so tight! The perfect amount of build up. Sometimes I do feel a tinge of something missing on the live jams. The ‘93 NYE Reba comes pretty close if I recall correctly. Worth a listen!

This is a pretty incredible analysis of the song and especially of the lyrics from a guy who it seems it just getting into listening to some Phish. My favorite band! Hope he gets to a show soon and reads the whole book, that’s when you really dive down the rabbit hole.

Well, that was freakin’ incredible. No two Phish concerts are ever the same, but you’re virtually 100% guaranteed to see something amazing. No telling what. If I saw this performance I would feel like whatever I paid for my ticket was justified.

Great job! It DOES sound like a cartoon at the end😆🤣 Maze turns EVERYONE on to Phish - if only they played it on the radio! "Maze" is the first dream on the concept album "Rift", which documents a dude's end of day and entire night's sleep...you should do a reaction to the whole record!!! Thanks for letting it go for that crazy jam. That's one of the longest Maze organ solos ever - '97 was a magical, MONSTROUS year for this band.

Honestly, I feel like Zappa would probably shit on it , if he was even aware of Phish at all before his death. I’m a huge Phish and Zappa freak, but kind of see him brushing them off. Frank also made fun of the dead and Jerry quite often.
