Fireflies will probably look nice. Since they look best in dense swarms, having big, bulky models will be a poor choice since swarms would look too cluttered. I’m glad the flies are small! They should have made bees smaller too, but I’ll give them a pass because bees are also like. *Useful.* So maybe its just for the best that players can see them better.

People will probably complain about them being "annoying" if they're full sized, just like what happened with bats. Doesn't help that they don't drop anything, so people would cry about that too, because adding purely decorative mobs are a mortal sin apparently.

It would be cool if they added a empty lantern, and you can either add a torch with it (make it a normal lantern) or add fireflies in it (they actually fly around in it, and it’s a greenish light) That would be some pretty cool stuff.

I absolutely love that they’re adding fireflies to the game because I have so many amazing childhood memories of watching fireflies in the summer and they’re so nostalgic and wonderful :) I must say though the Minecraft bee to firefly ratio is now pretty funny

I'd honestly prefer if fireflies were just glowing particle effects that briefly dash in a random direction, only to vanish as quickly as they appeared. To me that'd provide a better atmosphere than the 2 pixels we have

@@Missingno_Miner i'm not expecting it to be really a mob, but a particle instead. it just doesn't make sense to me for it to be a mob, because you would need a lot of fireflies, like more than 20 (which means lag), it doesn't make sense for it to drop something. if it actually comes out as a mob, i'll be surprised

The nether went from one biome and a pig mob to an entire dimension with like 4 biomes, two new mobs, one being a pig villager that can trade gold and has a new aggro mechanic. I remember a mod that had fireflies in it, and I'm kinda sad that the official design didn't end up like that. They were kind of shaped like bees, except WAY smaller and different colored. But the official design is kind of cool too :D

MS Paint constructive criticism: - Don't combine the brush tool with the bucket tool. As you can see, it leaves unwanted anti-aliasing. (0:27) Use the pencil tool instead. - You could've used the box shape tool instead of free-handing it. Or zoomed in to make it exactly 2 pixels. - You know you can crop out the white background, right? - JPEG compression sucks. Always save MS Paint art as PNG.

I honestly like this. It brings me back to the simple times of video game design. Now everyone expects 1:1 detailed scales of real life in video games and it’s understandable why, but tbh, it just two dots. That do their job in making us feel relaxed and happy ❤️

I honestly really want more sounds to the game. Bird calls, bugs buzzing. The occasional distant call of some weird creature. It would add so much to the game. More water sounds. Crickets chirping at night. The list could go one forever

It’s hard to believe that mojang never witnessed this man’s potential. Jokes aside though, I don’t think that they could’ve done the fireflies any better. For them to look more realistic, they have to be this small. And if they were any bigger it‘d just look like their fucking bees with green stripes instead of yellow ones.

Yeah. They can get away with spiders and bees since they're mobs you can interact with, but since fireflies are more of an aesthetic/ambience thing, them being no larger than the nether portal sparkles (sorry idk the word) works very well. Otherwise it would be wayyy too distracting
