Vanilla Tweaks changes that, and you can make it so that even new ores have the ironic look. Problem is, that Ancient Debris is now even Harder to find because it's now Netherrack texture

Nah. As much as I don't like change, it's better to embrace it rather than try to fight it. If you really love the game, getting blinded by nostalgia will only lead you down a path of hate/disdain. I've learned this from personal experience.

Me too. I left in 2015 and now I came back and installed 1.7.10 (last version I used was 1.5.2) and just can't believe how much the game has changed in the last few years. Also the last ones barely get to 5 fps with optifine in my computer. 1.7.10 does up to 60.

I like the ores because now they're visually distinct and different other than just a color difference. That's gotta be easier for colorblind people too. Now they can just remember a shape rather than the color

I mean, I guess, but the thing is just that it's so very classic minecraft. The way the blocks look are just rooted in the game to millions of players. I'm certain that as soon as it releases, someone will make a texture pack to just straight up restore the original block look and that'll be the only way I'll play it.

I’m a little sad about the ores honestly, but glad diamond is staying (although I’m anxious they won’t keep it for long) because the diamond ore texture is really pretty to me. The blue just pops beautifully, and I’ve always enjoyed that when playing.

For Iron ore, I think they are trying to go for realistic looks. That's what usually Iron ore looks like IRL. Even Terrafirmacraft use similar texture for their metal related ores.

I heard the ore textures were changed for accessibility. The previous ones were apparently difficult for colorblind people to tell from each other. I like them bc I appreciate the thoughtfulness

yeah, changing something for the 1% that affects them. Like, sure that is a great change. But is Mojang aware that there are 1.) plenty of games that have an option for a colourblind mode in the settings 2.) that its a BS excuse. I mean, i think there are a bit more than *6* blocks which are difficult to see when colourblind

I think the textures at 0:03 are fine, But at 0:06 they kinda look like a resource pack. I don't really mind the shapes, but the colors look faded and anti-aliased.

Alright. You can change the textures back. Also, I absolutely love the raw metals. They no longer drop ore blocks unless you have silk touch, which is fine because you can stack raw iron, gold, and copper into raw blocks to save inventory space while mining.

I heard that the reason they're changing them is to make it easier for colorblind people to distinguish them. Honestly I find them actually pretty welcoming and more memorable than the old ones.

I'm not 100% on the new ores but not changing the diamond ore is definitely a big brain move. I feel it spoke something like "remember your routes". They changed so many textures and I haven't noticed after adjusting, but because of the diamond ore, It'll spark a nostalgic feel as well as an exciting "I've done it" feel which just sweetens the deal

I remember when everyone was hating on the Texture Update a while ago but I liked it, it makes them look slicker. Also the ore textures were updated so that they are distinct for colorblind people.

As much as it's sad to see them leave, let's be honest and leave our nostalgia for a second, they weren't great. Most of them were the same texture just recolored so, I'm glad they got updated, especially since it's better for colorblind people.

I think the change of ores is fantastic for colourblind people of all kinds. They don't have to use some hard to find texture pack which will actualy change colours for them accordingly, now they can use the vanilla one with less trouble. It's great they are broadening the availability.

I think they should keep the old ores and implement the new ones starting at around 0. Maybe even -5 or -6. Old ores would basically be found up in mountains where thing would be cold, and kinda untouched by time, despite the change.

I think it is moreso the fact that people who use the Mojang-provided classic texture pack will now have all ores be retexured with a background of the new stone texture, so it will not blend well with the walls. We all ready experience this with the Nether gold and the Nether mycellium stuff.

Change can be good, holding on to the past can very often be bad, so I am very willing to give the new ores a go. Also if you play with old textures in a pack you are a coward and afraid of moving on, or nostalgic

I kind of like the new iron texture, somehow it makes sense. Stripes of iron ore in stone just feels right. Plus, it is quite distinct from the other ores.

Iron ore in real life is actually found because the stone its on has streaks of rust, so the streaky iron is more realistic. An orange and brown tint would make it even better.

@@Player-257 bruh just use a texture pack if you really want them back. I think the gold ore especially looks egregious, with the other ores serving their purpose for colourblind people. And let's be honest, if you're in a dark cave, using binoculars to look at ores in the dark, the new shapes could help you too.

I actually liked the old ores because as a builder, those old ores are extremely versatile. The og coal ores made nice oil leaks on a stone floor or an unfinished tile floor to use in a construction site. This sucks.

I've seen a lot of colorblind people being happy about the new textures, so I'm happy that the basic textures will be a positive thing for them I can just go find a texture pack that makes the ores look like they did previously, so I'm not bothered the change. All in all, I'm glad they've done it so that the colorblind folks have an easier time recognizing which is which
