Phoenix Fire says they are receiving more calls for help on the hiking trails. Just yesterday, a 10-year-old boy died while hiking during triple digit temperatures on South Mountain.

If you do not prepare and you cannot self rescue you should not be here

Bring extra water and snacks, whistle, sunscreen, let someone know your hiking plans, and TURN AROUND before half your water is gone no matter what. Bring a full charged phone also, along with a small first aid kit for cuts, ace wrap, and lightweight emergency blanket to protect you from the sun in case of emergency. Hiking/ walking sticks are very useful when hiking also. Edit: too many people overestimate the shape they're in and underestimate the impact of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. This happens every year as does children drowning in pools, oceans, etc. My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and friends 🙏🙏🙏

Well, I don't know I'm sorry for their loss truly but then all you need to do is look at the news check the temp somebody needed to give these people some guidance and maybe they need to be. I don't know some people say that CPS needs to be brought in because anyone would come and since we know that you shouldn't go hiking in this kind of temperatures it's 90 something degrees a night we all know this they're new to Valley. I heard that they were been here for over a year or I don't know there's so many different things but I still feel like I'm sorry for the loss but then again, how could they let such a thing occur when they know what the temperature is in the summer is here in Phoenix Phoenix.

Start charging for the rescue, and the number will drop.

It's unfortunate that so many people underestimate how fast you can become compromised in the heat , condolences to the family.
