for me last 10% to 5% on Samsung can last a little less than an hour if doing only light task like watching video, scrolling reddit, etc but then the last 5% to 0% takes about just a min.

Go check out the OnePlus 12. Everything about the OnePlus 12 is neck to neck and the camera on the OnePlus 12 has been reviewed plenty times to be better than iPhone especially night time photos but are on par if not a little better than the Samsung as the OnePlus is more natural and with a price range of around $800

The s24 ultra has 4GB of ram and a better battery for 100$ difference, this means that the Samsung is clearly better for gaming or software that needs a lot of ressources. Apple products are often more expensive to repair. IOS is safer to use if you're not sure what you're doing while Android allows you ghe freedom to install whatever you want and customize however you want, which increase the risk of getting viruses.

I'm a firmware developer and I can tell you percentage battery means very little. Battery remaining capacity is detected as the battery voltage. But the voltage doesn't drop linearly, and this discharge curve changes depending on temperature, age, and general variation from battery to battery. It is more a vague indication than a "oh i have 50% left so i can use the phone as much as i have already again".

I think that is the case. My power usage is mostly from the YT app and most days my S24 Ultra can last all day watching videos and maybe twice per month the app would go haywire and my battery would be out by noon.

Buddy, I know what RAM is, when I said the previous sentence I said it fundamentally because you don’t know how ram management works on android / iOS. On android you are basically running a sandbox environment continuously, each app is sandboxed, thus the need of having large pools of memory, you also need to account for a continuous garbage collector that has indeed a role of why android has overall 2x the ram size compared to iOS. For contrast iOS memory management works by compressing and suspending the application in cases of which the app hasn’t been open for a while, iOS doesn’t use a garbage collector, it uses what in the industry is called ARC and for that reason as well, it requires a far smaller pool of memory to function. To summarise, and I say this with quotes as it’s an overall simplification, “android apps are partially written in Java, Java needs a large pool of memory to work with mainly because of the garbage collector, iOS apps are made with objective-c this having a closer access to how the apps manages its memory usage”. Hope that clarifies, as most people don’t understand the reasoning behind each platforms decisions but blindly saying bla bla one is better more ram, other one is bad bla bla less ram…

The last 10% to 5% always seem to last longer because the phone has trouble calculating how much battery actually is left and usually lowballs it when between 95% and 15%

The charging percentage is not how full the battery is. It's a calculated approximation based on the data the battery gauge is generating. Depending on how a company wants to calculate this approximation, the results will differ. The iPhone looks more like a growth curve, while the Samsung looks more linear and simplistic

As someone who listens to music and downloaded YT videos in the background using my bluetooth headphones, from ahout 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, i usually have about 50-something percent left. And this includes having to respond to text/calls.

Why not their processors are the strongest that money can buy and more efficient than ever before and member the apps on iPhones are optimized better than android that’s why you see games performing very good on Apple or iPhone compared to android android phones like Warzone mobile issue. Look it up android versus iPhone and iOS is more efficient. Both phones are great top of the line not throwing one under the bus. I’m just speaking facts.

I always plug my phone in around 20%, and I have it set to stop charging automatically at 80%. That's 40% less battery that I'm utilizing, yet I still only charge it once per day with these factors in mind. (Samsung A35 5G)

Let me tell you about the LG Power. I was given that thing for work a few years ago, I don't know what magical rock they had in that thing but the battery would go for a solid week of heavy use without me charging it.

Both phones have a different definition for battery percentage apparently. Apple "stretches" the lower percentages over a smaller amount of percentage. So the phone will say 10% when in reality it's 20%. Same goes for the Xioami 12T Pro, it says 100% but it's more like 80%. Noticed when I unplug it after a minute or two of reaching 100% vs an hour after reaching a 100%, and in the first case it drops to 99% fairly quickly, but in the second case it stays 100% for hours.

test the same 2 brand new phones in a few years, but with updated software. Maybe do this every single big update, aka every year and see how the new android / software makes the phone behave :). Also, you should also test phones that have been used since launch for a whole year and see if the statistics are still comparable or not :).

People fail to realize despite the iPhone 15 pro max chip set improvement it’s technically terrible as despite being 3nm chip set it’s tsmc’s N3B process not N3E the N3B process wasn’t supposed to be put in any phones as it’s basically the prototype chip as there isn’t anything they can do in the future with the N3B process however Apple was so desperate to have 3nm on the iPhone 15 that they were fine with using the inferior N3B version of the 3nm chip

This usually means two things either the android apps are not that much optimize and the A17 Pro chipset is more efficient snapdragon chipsets are always in gaming mode so they take more battery snapdragon does makeup for its lack of efficiency by its processing power the base clock speed of the snapdragon is 3.3-3.4Gz an apple immediately closes the background apps then when you try to open the app again they just loaded back so it takes less battery both phones have 120 hz refresh rate but samsung has the higher resolution so it takes more battery i'm not taking either side my device sucks all right i'm just here to prove a point just buy one of these and you'll be happy either way thank you for going to my ted talk.

I wonder how long is going to take for those batteries to degrade to a point where there are not serviceable anymore, I'm almost five years into owning a galaxy note 10+ and although the battery doesn't last even near half as much as it used to back when it was brand new it still is easily more than enough to cope with everything i do with it during the day.
