This is a first-generation model due to have the model number being HAC-001, the second-generation model has HAC-001(-001). You can tell by the back of the switch. Some of the key differences of the two is the second Gen model has batter battery life and better processing than the first Gen model (among a few other things)
@dill6598
@dill6598 2 жыл бұрын
Does it have better processing? I didn’t think it did. The better battery life would have been more than welcome for me tho. I got my switch on Christmas 2017 and the battery life is absolutely garbage and horrible. I know this because I brang it to school once to play mariokart 8 deluxe with my friends. Apart from that, I think the switch is a decent console, but I also don’t like the joy cons and find them very unreliable and they really can’t stand the test of time.

Immediate issue at 1:20 DON'T use a USB-B to USB-C cable at 5v (normally max's out at approc 1-2.5A). Always use a PD USB-C to USB-C connection which should be approx 15v. The official Nintendo charger is set at 15v so always use that as a baseline

How did you know the problem in the first place?
@LowPolyPigeon
@LowPolyPigeon 2 жыл бұрын
@@Av65784 It's a known issue. Soon-ish after launch folks were having problems with switches not charging / powering on (like the one shown in the video), and folks eventually figured out it was due to 3rd party chargers / docks providing the wrong voltage and eventually frying the power management chip. It's probably what broke this exact switch.
@MrPetpet111
@MrPetpet111 2 жыл бұрын
@@LowPolyPigeon Only issue I had one and a half month after launch was the low on battery spam where the remaining battery percentage jumped somewhere from between 100 and 25 percent before going to 1 percent which took them to fix somewhere around Splatoon's 2 release day. Which I heard I wasn't the only one with that issue when they announced those AA battery pack accessory for joy cons before Arms release. Though I would say late buyers would be less aware of threads that were posted since launch against the ones posted much later. For example the hidden message in the Switch Pro Controller that got reposted later on by someone else. Then you have those Bluetooth issues some people have when their joy-con disconnects and like 2-3 months ago some person that some how wasn't aware of being able to get gold points from physical games.. Like how can someone who would check whether a game has an update or not at the +/- application menu of home not see it.

Folk like you and jerryrigeverything have taught me alot and I couldn’t be more thankful, you’re a great guy. Fun Fact ... i have had my OG switch have like 6 times issues with no power ... not even reacting to charging. Turns out the chips inside it did hang after going under voltage. Solution was to charge it for an hour even though nothing happent .. and then do a emergency shutdown .. like when the system totaly hangs. . and then it turned on again . not sure if it was volume down or up + power button fo 30 seconds or so ... that has resolved my no power issues when ever i had them without the need to solder anything and it worked fine after that

Just a why not comment, the switch I'm pretty sure is 18W @ 9v. You'd want a power supply with USB PD, and probably a good one at that since you'll venture into this. Usually you can tell what's going on by whether or not a device negotiates USB PD, especially on the switch where the chip tends to go wonky (esp. if used with low quality power supplies). Cheers.

I just found your channel by accident. I was considering becoming a tech repair person myself, after I scored a free Nintendo switch lite quit by a giant stroke of luck. I had wanted a switch ever since they came out. it reminded me of all the hours spent playing on a Nintendo DS. although, my parents are unable to buy me one. one day, when I was walking to school, a pink Nintendo Switch lite flew out of a speeding car window. from a distance, I couldn't quit tell what it was. when I got closer, I knew I had encountered a one in a million stroke of luck. it felt as if the universe was rewarding me for my hardships. but, alas, I have no money, and cannot afford to fix it. by my calculations, it will cost around 40 dollars to fix it. and, I'm not even sure if my diagnosis of the thing was correct. I do have experience fixing electronics as I used to fix Nintendo DS systems for my friends. I can even solder a little. I hope to save up enough money to fix the thing soon. I also have no clue if it has an account registered to the thing. I haven't opened the device up as of yet, and it has been sitting in my parents drawers for almost a year by now. I hope to fix it soon, although earning money as a minor when all your family is piss poor is very slow, and its even harder when you feel obligated to pitch in for things around the house. I have decided to hide my money away, and currently have $4 hopefully I forget about it so I don't spend it.

I couldn't tell you what it means but if you look it up the amount of voltage that it takes when plugged in can help you diagnose what's wrong
