Photographing black grouse at spring when they are leking is an awesome experience. So in this video I met up with landscape photographer Oddbjørn Austevik to do some wildlife photography. I think we can both agree that we had an awesome time.

What a fantastic experience….you were richly rewarded for carrying all that heavy equipment all the way up….the light seemed amazing with beautiful high lights in the birds feathers and eyes and that orange glow in the back ground….how could you not love this

How crazy is this! I just returned from photographing sharptailed grouse in a blind half a world away! Sounded just like your little party. 😊 They were also too close - was glad to have a 70-200 with me! Great video!

I have spent the past 3 days in a uk forest looking for deer to photograph. I think the camera has been out once. Wow! That was beyond amazing, Trond! How wonderful to have them so close at the beginning, where you could just revel in the experience of watching and hearing their displays :) But it must have also been very frustrating while hoping they would move to a better photographic distance and then they did! And not only did they move away but to get such gorgeous conditions at the same time is magical. I salute you for the effort you put in to be rewarded with such great results; you came away with so many ‘BOOM!’ shots and very well deserved! 🙌🏻

Simply amazing! I love black grouse and would love to watch / photograph them leking one day 😄 I had to smile at 2:55 - it looked like you had to leave tripods behind because the was the equipment was so heavy - first you left one, then in the next scene two... Ah, the fun of vlogging - walking the same stretch twice with the heavy equipment 😜
