Beautiful! Loved both the video and the images and the fact that you didn't try to hyper-edit the colour on the bird, thank you for that! Take care and be safe out there....

Terrific video. I just happened to run across this video and you answered my question. So you try to adhere to the 180 degree rule? None of the other videos I've seen mention video settings or ND filter use. One other thing, these birds were using natural landing spots or did you insert perches? Thanks.

Beautiful video! Was wondering were there actually two kingfishers with different colors? Amazing.
@dbphotofilm
@dbphotofilm 2 жыл бұрын
Hi many thanks for watching i had 4 different kingfishers on the day 3 juveniles and 1 adult male, (males have a all black bill females have orange under lower bill) what you see in colouring within the kings is due to a phenomenon called structural colouration. This means that the bright colour is only perceived at a certain angle blue and green by the ambient light, in fact the kingfishers colour is darker when under shade or hiding this is why the bird is hard to see when not flying or not perched out in the open. many thanks

Very nice video... thank you. Are you using the Ninja for video purely to give you the extra storage or is it also for pre-roll? I was surprised that you needed the variable ND filter. Presumably at 200 ISO you still had some wiggle room to lower the ISO if the light got brighter and still keep f10, or have you found that 200 ISO gives the best result with your sensor? I've recently changed to the Sony a1 for wildlife video and am still trying to find the optimum settings for that camera.

Hi thanks for your comments, VND is a must for most of my videos and with Kingfishers even with a small amount of light will reflect light back as semi iridescent can and will kill your exposure, with the sony A7s3, 12 megapixel full frame sensor means bigger pixs so more light entring this is why i dony use my A1 for this type of work , its alabout what works for you as its diffrent from lens to camera to person, we all have to find that sweet spot and what works for one may not for others, cheers and thanks for watching
