I think its very common for people who use a particular tool to earn a living to view it differently than someone who uses the very same tool for a hobby. Look at the toolbox of most working mechanics, they have what they need and most times the tools are dirty and not well cared for. A shade tree mechanic will have a neatly organized display of spotlessly clean tools to decorate his garage. He will find a reason to use the tool he really doesn't need while the working pro will only have tools he has a "need" for.

You make a lot of sense! Lenses are like paint brushes and we are artists who use them to paint a picture 📸 sometimes you have to buy all the lenses when you 1st start off to find out what lens and focal length works then after time you sell off gear you don’t need and most of the time gear review videos can mess up your head and lead you to waist your cash but we live and learn

Great video! Last year I traded in my X-T30/X-T10, 90mm and 16-55mm in for a X100V because I felt the need to minimize and I absolutely love it. The 90mm is still my favorite lens ever but I didn't need it.

I agree so much with what you are saying. However with this mentality which I have practiced for over 15 years. You risk the chance of expanding in some situations. I used the minimum for years, focusing on 100% best value for cash and most versatile usage for dollars spent. After 15 years of professional work I finally splurged and bought a few of those lenses I though I can make the mid grade work. (Which for years I had) once I put these more top tier lenses on a solid camera body and wow! Why did I wait so long. So much more flexibility, and ease of use in terms of getting what I want. Now after so many years of using what many would think is sub par equipment to build my skills did I make the right move? Absolutely!!! However with the experience of working around the limitations of equipment to get what I need means as soon as I have equipment with less limitations...... Well I can now creat a crap ton more quality images. Yes crap ton is an actual official measurement in the mid west. So in short, don't take the good enough route to long. Test the waters you may find out you can swim with the sharks!

In my bag: X-E4 + 50 2.0 and a X70. Pretty set for what I like to photograph.
@garymorrow9324

I sold my x70 since at the time I got more trade in value for it instead of the XE-1 and wanted an XT4. Fool. The x70 took amazing pictures and was super compact. Should have chanced having only one body with interchangeable lenses. Dang...Why wasn't I watch Dee's channel then.

i did have the 50f2 and the 35 1.4. I realised i got all i needed for better results (bokeh, compression, etc) with my 35 1.4 ! The problem of the 23 is other but soon OK I keep the 1.4 for portraits and low light, i sell my X100T and the 23f2 for the X100V which is WR and really compact ! Well the 23 1.4 is a bonus, but i really like it for the moment, maybe the X100V will be decisice So : X-T2 + 23 1.4 + 35 1.4 X100V But GAS effect : i have to admit I am tempted about the 35f2 for WR, but keep the 35 1.4 in cause of its charm...

Thank you for thoughtful videos! I’m primarily a landscape and wildlife photography hobbyist but I have recently become interested in portrait photography as well. I own the 90 mm f2 as well as the 35 mm 1.4. I have been considering adding the 56 mm f1.2 but not sure whether there is enough value added. I can afford to buy it but I am also practical and believe in the minimalist approach that you discussed. Any thoughts?
@DeeRosa

I don’t personally see a point in the 56/1.2. 90/2 is fujis best portrait lens. That money seems better off being saved and used when Fujifilm released their 150-600

The only thing that never existed was you getting bitxhes. But yeah - I’d agree it was a republic backed pandemic to break unions, get more wealth for the 1% and politicians and to empower the military and police force to suppress the blue collar people. GOP wants us dead and they’re working for the devil dude.
