I have found if you talk to the geese, they don’t attack. Except for the one who was very happy to see me and aggressively said hello. Honking and flapping, and ramming against my legs like an extremely rude cat! This is what I get for rescuing him from a busy road and getting crabapples off the trees for him. I just hope the crows and ravens don’t decide to mob him this summer

Canadian fact : In the province of Québec, when giving to charity, most peoples, think over 80%, decline the receipt. Garter snakes, also called garden snakes, are totally harmless : NO venom and eat mostly insects and the occasional unlucky baby mouse.

As an immigrant to Canada, I love this video. Yes, it is all true. In our neigbourhood parks in Toronto, children leave their toys for others to play with. If we have good items that we no longer need, we leave them on the sidewalk so others may enjoy them. We say please and thank you and greet our neighbours. More than half of our population was born in another country. BTW: we are not overwhelming white. but that really has nothing to do with the fact that people of any race, creed or colour simply need to be respected. I'm sure in other places this may also be true. If it is not true, think of Toronto.

The bear crossing the road in Banff is unlikely to be a brown bear. Brown bears are found in Alaska in the coastal regions. Inland bears like this one are usually grizzlies. 🇨🇦
@PetalThorn
@PetalThorn 5 ай бұрын
Though a lot of people do call Grizzlies Brown Bears. So when someone says 'Brown Bear' they could either mean a Grizzly, or an American Black Bear, that happens to be brown. [Because ironically, Black Bears come in just about any natural color.] However, Grizzlies in the coastal region are a LOT bigger because of the salmon runs, than their inland counterpart. Also fun when you throw 'Kodiak Bear' in the mix. In fact, a Kodiak Brown Bear is a subspecies of Grizzly Bear, and may be the species you're referring to as its also called the Alaskan Brown Bear. We do not always have the best naming system. XD
@alisonrobinson3253
@alisonrobinson3253 5 ай бұрын
@@PetalThorn There is a huge difference between a Grizzly Bear and a Black Bear. Black Bears are a different species. They have no hump on their shoulders, their rump is higher, snout is straighter, ears are bigger and more upright and claws are shorter. Grizzlies, Kodiak and Brown Bears are different sub species of the same species, Ursus Arctos. Kodiak Bears are only found on Kodiak Island.

I grew up in Northern Ontario. The climate and plant life is very similar to that in Finland. That’s why many Finns emigrated here post WW2. Went to school with many Finnish kids who couldn’t even speak English when they joined our class. Amazing how we all managed to communicate, play, and become friends despite our differences. There’s a small enclave of Finnish families just out of town. They have a sign posting it as Finn Town. I have friends there still. Can even use mild swear words my friends taught me. We don’t just absorb the people, we absorb and enjoy the customs, foods and culture, and share the diversity. Typical Canadian way of thinking! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦

That's really intereting: here in Hungary (and other countries of the Eastern bloc I guess) used to have "bagged" milk and other liquid dairy products in the 1970's and 1980's that looked exactly like those shown in this video - and everybody hated them, because the bags were poorly made, and a lot of them were leaking at the seems... that was their main claim to "fame"... I cannot recall a single person having a positive nostalgia for them :)

I live in Ontario, and I'm on the same latitude as the California/Oregon border. Not quite arctic circle. Our snow comes off the 3 great lakes when they font freeze quickly. We are a Commonwealth country, so we still have a constitutional Mobarchy thank you. We fought off and won against Americans in the war of 1812. We even marched with tne British to burn the white house. So why are you listing out proud points as negatives?

But even then I did not come across as many Canadians as I do now in South Florida with all the Quebecoi plates all winter long. So yes, I think Canada is different, obviously different. @@joywebster2678 OK thanks for that information. But I believe even in the warmer months, the weather is much cooler than where I live which is in Australia. Our temperature today for instance will be 33 centigrade and the next couple days will be 38 and 40. Not typical weather but it regularly gets up to 28, 29 or over 30 degrees in the summer with high humidity and the winters are regularly in the low 20s. But Canada definitely looks a wonderful place.

@1toshi32 our summers in Southern Canada ate humid, the great lakes, and mid 30s. We require air conditioning. Like Austalia we cover such a vast amount of area that weather varies depending if you choose the most isolated remote where our idigenous peoples live, along with polar bears, or on the west coast where the pacific ocean keeps it quite temperate year round. So we do offer a variety of living conditions. But we accept the snowy stereotype.

@@joywebster2678 OK did not know that. Thank you for your information. Gives a different slant on living in Canada. When you hear about Canada, it's usually with how cold it is. You are correct in saying that the weather varies as it does in Australia. The south is usually cooler but not by much in the summer months. Victoria can still have temperatures in the 40s which I found interesting because it's so far south. I always assumed that the further south, the cooler it gets. Anyway, thanks for your reply. I will look into going there in the future but only the warmer months. I hate the cold. Brrrrr. Canada does have some wonderful attractions. 😊
