It is a long time since I stopped to follow / buy Luminar. Since the very beginning, the company was not solid - marketing over the board everywhere, only to find out, that the final release was lacking, promisses not fulfilled and later on, they have introduced yet another and another new generation of Luminar. I repeated this iteration 3 times and decided to stop using the SW. Maybe I should look into the software again, but .....

I use it and i love it. The AI process may seem like lagging, but it takes time if the power is not there. I have tried it on different PCs w/ different specs. It is noticeable. The results are fantastic!

I love and hate it. The gen fill tool creates cartoony unrealistic images rather than usable ones. The sharpness tool barely works in low. Once you hit high it’s a mess. Don’t even try the face feature because it will completely change the face into someone else’s. What do I love? I love everything else. I love the studio light. I love the face and eye stuff. I love the glow and mist/fog stuff. I love the sunrays feature. The minimal stuff works great. The AI photo manipulation stuff is very bad.

@@Richard1861 it needs work but I do enjoy using Luminar for sure. It’s still pretty clunky though. So much of this program makes no sense or just isn’t good at all. Feels gimmicky. If I were to use a gen fill tool and I don’t have photoshop I just use Firefly.

LN is 1536x1536. I believe PS is 1024x1024.

@@Richard1861 I believe when Generative Fill came out of Beta the resolution went to 2000x2000. I haven't tested it yet.

It’s like driving a race car with an automatic transition. I prefer to have manual controls to get the best out of the software and the editing experience. I’m sure it works great and is fun, I’m just not a fan of the randomizing results. I’m too picky.

Does it have good raw batch processing? Could I leave photoshop altogether? I need to be able to leave photoshop as a whole and not look back. Camera raw is amazing for my workflow and honestly the only reason I'm still with them. I thought Affinity Photo was gonna allow me to leave but, nope not yet still searching.

Probably not entirely since it’s not doing things like adding text if you need to do that. I haven’t personally tested the batch features but that’s something to consider for sure depending on how much you do!

@@VanessaJoy Thank you I don't really add text. I just do all of my raw processing in camera raw. Exposure, HSL etc., etc. I'm on the website now definitely about to check them out thank you again!!!! Love your work and inspiration. Keep up the good work!!!!

Not as I would expect but you can copy and paste edits from one photo to as many others as you wish, so you can in effect get there without too much hassle. This brings up one of my big disappointments with Luminar; however, because in catalogue view it does NOT display file names below each photo. So if you have edits you want to transfer to a particular photo you have to manually hunt for it by hovering your mouse over each image . I don’t understand this at all-a total pain that would be so easily resolved if they would simply display a little more info.

@@richarddukeshireFor me almost. What it can do is amazing and some of its tools like Relight are jaw dropping (early on using Relight I just moved the slider back and forth for 15 minutes because I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing-in landscapes lighting will travel up vertical surfaces faster than the ground plane which it should-somehow it knows this). However, it doesn’t have the traditional palette of tools, it doesn’t have the comprehensive layering/masking of Photoshop, and the lack of file management and UI drives me nuts. All that said I probably use it 90% of the time now and I find my using PS less and less.

@@VanessaJoy I'd say everything. It won't make me (I don't shoot weddings) a wedding photographer on your level. Photoshop is just too versatile of a program to be dead....backed by one of the world's largest and most inovative corporations. AI won't make anyone a better photographer.

Sometimes I think like that also but we have to keep in mind that we can say that about every advancement of technology. The same thing was said about digital cameras when they replaced film cameras. New technology will have criticisms and some of them are valid. But I just try to keep in mind that with each new advancement that happens new skills must be learned and that doesn't make us any less of a professional photographer than those that stood in a dark room developing film in tubs of liquid.
