Photoshop Speed Art - Making the first Pythetron poster

Pythetron is a 2.5d side scroller space shooter game that I created in the style of the old school shooters from the past but built on a modern game engine.
To make this poster I start by posing the 3d game models then render out the basic lighting and texturing before I dive into the Photoshop portion.
Utilizing Photoshop I am able to enhance these lower detailed models into something that is printable and also usable as a center piece for my website.
I plan on making many more of these posters utilizing the same techniques as I develop of the game.
You will also be able to find trailers, behind the scenes videos, and other media on the website...

YES you're back! I've been watching your videos almost every day these past few weeks, they are incredibly inspiring! I've been trying to do some of the same stuff as you do, but it's incredibly challenging and I you are clearly very talented. They way you use Photoshop is a huge inspiration, and in my opinion, the coolest way.

This is such a masterpiece...! It would be so fantastic if there was a tutorial explaining shortly how you did most of the effects you did... For example the shading, reflections and texturizing in Photoshop...! :D Love your videos! :)

The logo you made looks amazing. I was shocked to see that it was also done in Photoshop and not illustrator, my preferred program. Keep up the good work, I aspire to be as talented as you one day!

Thanks. Yeah I used Photoshop because I knew that eventually I'd want it to have a visual feel that I didn't think could be replicated in Illustrator (plus I don't own Illustrator). The only downside is the print logo file size is huge since it isn't vector based.

Awesome level of detail! As expected from somebody as good as you. Don't forget to post this on your DeviantArt. It occured to me for some reason that you had some health issues. That made me upset when you haven't been making new works. Glad to see you back and strong as ever. How are you?

Guile G. Yeah I did the video editing too. I made the models first, for use in the game, and then used those to pose a scene. From there I use Photoshop. I added in some other elements that I did for the game, but unfortunately didn't record it at the time.

Thanks! I am aiming to have a pre-alpha version by years end complete with a functional leader board. The scope of the full game though will dig into 2015 for sure.

I didn't mention it before, but the lively bosses look slick (from what I could see in the glimpse given). Now that you have animations in, do you have multiple patterns or layered states for the bosses?

WhatsOnMyShelf I've completed two of the 10 bosses so far. They have patterns they follow that you can manipulate if you know how to. The game, essentially, has no random elements which is something I am aiming for since I'd like the game to be gear toward speed running for those interested in that.

It also adds that "old-school" feel. By patterns or layered boss fights, I was thinking of how you might blow up the legs or support of a boss and they might transform; also, as in Einhander (PSX), the bosses can change depending on what you do in the level.

I know that the funding for the kickstarter never reached it's goal, but did this ever go anywhere despite that? At the time I was jobless and could not contribute, but this game is so cool it would be a shame if it never went anywhere.

+Ohai Driku At this point it's on hold. I have a lot of other projects that are taking priority. I may complete it one day.
