For sure this works, but needs pretty accurate cloning. An option is to copy the background layer and on the copy, select the subject, and mask it and label it S1. Then, copy the background again below the masked layer and label it "cloning" . On it, clone stamp the subject's surroundings into the subject's shadows overlapping the subject . Then, just reduce the opacity of that cloning layer to suit the image. The top (S1) layer keeps the subject nice and clear at all times. I do this on hundreds of images with plain and busy backgrounds, and it works great and negates the need to be accurate in the cloning.

How do you make the Brush to remove the image area vs painting in black over the image? thx.

hi @Rafa, you simply use the Brush tool in Photoshop, you don't need to make a brush as such.

9 times out of 10 the Spot Healing Brush Tool can remove shadows, blemishes etc perfectly fine and is a super quick one click. For the more complicated pictures, this method is better.

It would have been a lot quicker if you'd zoomed right in close to use the clone tool on the edges more accurately. That way you wouldn't have needed the later steps to repair the image and return parts of his face.

hi Thomas, are you taking the sample from background layer (bottom layer)? Not the top layer.

Is it possible that someone can help me with this? Every free website that has photoshop on it doesn't do what video shows. I don't have a paid version of photoshop and my trials have ended a while ago.
