Phrozen make premium resin 3D printers, with the Mighty 4K being no exception. It has a monochrome 4K LCD and high end build quality. This machine, along with the Luna cure station, just worked. The performance was great so what are the downsides and are they worth the price? Watch to find out.

I have one of these printers and must agree with your conclusions. It produces fantastic results and the print head and Z axis are built like a tank. One thing I feel I should add though. Big printers are always slower than little printers. The lift height required to pull a layer off the FEP is nearly twice as much as with e.g. the sonic mini 4k simply because the FEP is larger and can deform further. The greater lift distance required is also why you need a greater light off delay too. So, if you do small prints, buy a small printer unless you need to do a load of prints at the same time.

@@TeachingTech thanks for your awesome review! Q: the specs phrozen gives on the website say 80 mm/hour, are they stretching the truth in your opinion? if the ninja turtle bust was 9 hours to print and it looks 220 mm tall from what i can tell, that's about 25mm per hour as opposed to what they spec at 80 mm/hour. That seems like a pretty big discrepancy

Glad to hear that a machine like this is considered so good that it's boring - I was looking at the Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k and wasn't sure if they would be a good brand to go with, given that they're less established. But seeing this kind of quality and reliability is fantastic news.

One could argue they are actually more established. They have been around in resin printing for a long time and tend to set the trend in resin printing. They were the first to do parallel light matrices and also the first affordable monochromatic screen 3d printers. They were a full year ahead of anycubic and the others with these features.

@@dakotapahel-short3192 oh nice! I’m only ever hear about the anycubic and elegoo brands from the people that heavily do reviews, mods, repairs, custom firmwares, etc - even things like “which has a bigger/more active subreddit/forums/etc”, phrozen is almost always way, way behind compared to anycubic and elegoo

I've had a Sonic Mini 4K for almost a year now and printed quite a lot with it. It is a fantastic machine - no issues at all, and the quality of its printed models compared to those I've seen from friends with other printers is astonishing. I strongly recommend investing in a Phrozen machine if you're considering purchasing a resin printer.

I am brand new to printing and will persevere some more before the Ender 6 is ended with a sledge hammer! The Phrozen Mighty detail perfect and has made the most perfect models 🙂👍.

I bought this from 3D Printers Online and very happy with my choice. The only regret I have is not getting a Luna, but at AU$579 i just cannot justify it...given it doesn't even wash...Its just crazy pricing from Phrozen. At the moment I handwash them and have made my own curing station, but will be looking at some of the large wash and cure stations that have hit the market now at less than half the price of the Luna. As for the printer it gives me great prints from day 1, no mucking around getting it "tuned" other than sanding the bed and a longer than suggested first layer/s needed for good bed adhesion ( 60s works very very well for me). I havent had a failed print since my second print.

I had a ton of issues getting my Mighty 4K to print correctly. The build plate was not completely flat, it was slightly concave, causing any supported prints that weren't near the edge to stick to the FEP, took nearly an hour of lapping on 60 grit sandpaper taped to a flat piece of tempered glass to get it flat enough to print right. The include FEP still gave me issues, moving to an nFEP (or PFA) sheet did the trick.

Hi Michael, love the videos - Im tasked with choosing a printer for a small business and doing some research... I have experience with a Form3 but the build volume would be too small for our needs and it would be nice to invest a bit less... Ive watched your videos on the Bambu Labs and the Phrozen and Im wondering how you'd decide which direction to go. I know there are lot of "it depends" involved, but if you were looking for ease of use (will be used as a tool in a business only, not by enthusiasts), a build volume of around 250mm3 and up, quality parts, speed, quiet... what machine jumps to the front of the que in your mind? Yes they are, they're entirely unregulated and a real crapshoot. I heard a story where the active ingredient in some neon resin from a large -maybe the largest producer- was white phosphorus. After a run around trying to get the CDR from the manufacturer finally he got it and shelved the resin.

If you're going for the absolute cheapest printer you're going to sacrifice quality, reliability, functionality, and ease-of-use. For that price you're most likely going to end up with a hobby kit printer that you have to build, maintain, and repair, which is not 'easy' for most users.

I bought a Voxelab Proxima 2K monoscreen printer when Amazon had a special on it for $160 USD. (I think the current price is $200 USD.) It works great and I'm impressed with the build quality of the machine. FWIW, I own 4 resin printers including an Epax E10 for larger prints like the Phrozen Sonic Mighty 4K shown in this video. One thing I would recommend is that, as tempting as the cheaper previous generation color LCD screen printers have become, pay extra for a monoscreen. It will be worth it in the long run.

Where do you advise the comunity to licence there things now? Is it a site with current operationsl licence sales services operating? Currently i believe there are now none operstional in America. Not one influencer has been able to name not one opetational site. From anywhere now. So cutrently if you design a thing and iicence it you wont be able to sell that licence. You cant sell your bizness. Neither can i buy it. Selling things you designed must be licenced checked else risk being a pirate. I was stopped selling a 3d print because licence checks had let me down. Just cause you designed it and printed it at home dont mean you can sell it. I was almost banned from selling anything ever again permanatly. Just over trying to sell one 3d print. I was licencing things for others but since its down im trapped as the owner and the other person now cant become the owner. Printer idle. Me you and anyone else cant sell out. Nor buy in or buy out.
