This module will show you how to perform a focused physical examination of 31 weeks gestation premature twins during the first week of their life, and includes details of how to elicit the primitive reflexes during the neurological exam.

Just had my baby at 31 weeks and she was only 2.8lbs! These little babies are extremely resilient and so determined to thrive. I couldn’t be more proud of my baby girl. Well, all preemies really. Medicine today is amazing too and it’s just a matter of time before you bring little one home. Sending love to all other preemie baby moms!

Signs of pre-clamp include Blurred vision Pain in the upper torso Headache And high blood pressure Protein in your urine I had it 2 times already but over 36 weeks

Bless those little warriors. This is nice to see for myself as I was born at 30 weeks gestation (in 1975) and I spent my first 2 months in hospital. There are no photos of me until my first day home at 5lbs weight. Was 2lb 12oz at birth and could never put it into perspective. Good health and happiness, babies.

Our 30 year old daughter was born at 31 weeks. With excellent medical and nursing care she left hospital after 6 weeks, weighing 3 kgs. We heard at the time the importance of stimulating her with plenty of verbal interaction and music.Today she is an exceptional person with great interpersonal skills, very academic, practical and plays many musical instruments. Reading this comment gives me hope... Thank you... Just had my first baby on the 31st week via emergency C-section this Saturday. He weighs around 1.450 kgs (3.19 pounds) and gets respiratory support. Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to lactate after my preterm labor. So, they can feed him my milk with an orogastric tube. I can't wait to hold my beautiful angel in my arms... Please pray for me

I was thinking that too. My youngest daughter was born at 33 weeks and 6 days and she was in a baby unit. They must have done these tests on her. I know those tests are important but they do look quite worrying especially when they wanted to check the startling reflex

Six years ago I had my 25 weeker who is doing great now but had rough 3 months in the nicu. I’m pregnant after years of being scared to have another preemie fight in a nicu etc, I’m 31 weeks on Wednesday and wow I’m in shock on how big these baby’s look! Every week sure does count I didn’t think my baby will be that big already.

+3303jeri Thank you for your comment and concern. These babies are beautiful and healthy, but premature. They were examined daily by the NICU staff, quite often with their parents right beside them. We always do our best to make sure that premature babies are not uncomfortable during their daily physical exam.

Seeing another baby with period breathing is calming. I’ve been terrified my son is going to die because of it. We were just in the hospital because he freaked me out and they realeased us with good vitals and said it’s just periodic breathing and I didn’t know what it was.

I am almost 31 weeks with my 2nd daughter. It is reassuring to know they can survive this early and usually without any long term problems. I have pretty bad pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome that interrupts my sleep. It is very painful in my hands, wrists and arms. If this one comes early I would be relieved in a way because the carpal tunnel syndrome goes away when the baby comes. I had severe carpal tunnel syndrome last time too. Didn't get much sleep the last trimester or after baby came. I don't sleep good as it is without the issues.

Don't worry the babies are safe and not hurting they actually are so very calm through all of this. 🤍 it only looks scary but it's OK. They need to assess them at that point so if anything is wrong they can deal with it sooner than later. 🤍

I m now 28 weeks . suffering from 22 weeks leaking fluid. now my fluid is 6. if my delivery 30 weeks earlier my baby can survive? he is now 1100 gm.

You can ask your OB to request a prenatal consultation from your local Neonatology doctor. They will review your medical record and can advise you best about what to expect if your baby is born early.
