There is also 2.5GbE and 5GbE. Also, the difference between MM and SM optical fiber cables is that MM cables are designed for distances less than 5 kilometers, and for distances beyond that, SM cables come in. Also, the use of single fiber but different wavelengths (WDM, wavelength division multiplexing), one of its uses is in FTTx broadband.
