Autostart isn't located there anymore on Pi 4. I used: sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart. Copy Path for TunerStudio.sh (Wherever you extracted it) and add @"copied path" at the top in the autostart file. Do not enter "copied path". Type @ then press Shift+Ctrl+V to paste the path that you copied. Ctrl+O to write the file. Ctrl+X to exit the file. Type Reboot and Pi will reboot and autostart TunerStudio. NOTE: ALL PATHS ARE CASE SENSITIVE SO IT'S BEST TO COPY AND PASTE!!!! I am running TS directly from the Downloads folder which is where Chromium puts it when you download it. I didn't use Terminal to extract it and I didn't download any programs to extract it. Just Right-Click and 'Extract here'.

Thanks a bunch, been fighting that for a while. Only thing I had to do different is put the whole directory down on the autorun file. Ex. /home/pi/Downloads/TunerStudio/

Is it possible to have an other dashboard than MainDashboard wehen startup? I want to see my customized dashboard first and not need to select in manualy.

I know this is a old video but I followed all your steps but when i get to the detect button it doesnt detect the ecu. any ideas? Im using a usb to rs232 cable

Boot 40 times faster with an M.2 hat board. Just copy the Sd card to the M.2 and you will have a way faster setup. Raspberry pi 5 is even better with the M.2 setup. I just realized this is 6 years old lol!

When you're typing in the terminal, after keying "ls", you type file and then this whole line of words pops up. I can't tell if I need to type that entire line or if I only need to type some of it. I've tried it a few different ways and haven't been able to do it. Any suggestions?

In unix/linux you have to type the whole file name, there is a trick though, if you start typing the name and hit the tab key it will auto complete it for you.

What cable you use to connect the ECU, OBD2, serial to USB?? Can show hardware how to connect the ECU port? Thanks a lot!!

Is it ok that the pi will just shutdown every time you turn the car off?

I hear that it will corrupt the SD eventually. I've probably cycled it ~500 or so times already and haven't experienced an issue. I am looking at some USB triggers that will tell the pi to safe shutdown though. I also keep a cloned SD card on hand so that if I do experience SD corruption I will be able to swap in the cloned card until I get safe shutdown working. Good question!

You can put the root filesystem in read-only mode. That way you don't risk corrupting the SD because of the power-off

Are you connecting to your MS box over USB or over bluetooth? I can enter my HC06 bluetooth module PIN and raspberry pi connects but says the connection is unusable. (I'm running another open source box called Speeduino but same concept). I noticed the Linux distribution doesn't offer a "bluetooth direct" connection option.

Wish there was a way to build a dash and save it as a kind of separate app that communicates with the ECU and only boots that.

I type in ./TunerStudio.sh and it says " ./Tunerstudio.sh: 30: java: not found TunerStudio doesn't boot

The motor and stuff can be factory but I only have experience with the megasquirt ECU, if you're trying to run a factory ECU then I dont think it will pan out very well

I'm lost.... NEED HELP! SOS I have a pi 3 B+ running raspbian running 2019-07-10. I have TunerStudio installed all that is great my only problem is TS will not detect my ECU no matter if Bluetooth or USB. Any Ideas? All help is appreciated! 👍

When you plug in your cable do you see anything in /dev/tty* ? maybe something like ttyAMA0 or ttyAMA1?

I've researched and says some pis autostart is located in different folder... so look through your files to locate it...

@@Nocturnalfishing I remember I downloaded the latest version of Java first and when I tried to run tuner studio, lots of errors came up. I found that tuner studio didn’t support that version of Java. If I were you, I’d research what will work with tuner studio first. Maybe it’s changed since I tried

The new update Rpi does not use that autostart directory. USE: sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart Or use this tutorial kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sMtyaLea0qqymmw.html

The latest version of TS for Linux hides the Dash Only Mode menu. There is a script that can be added to the TunerStudio.properties file that should restore the menu, but is currently not working. I have contacted EFI and they are working on a fix.

show the autostart file, `ls` in the directory so I can see the exact file name and a `pwd` so I can see the exact directory structure.

Grabbs Racing I DID IT! Haha. How funny. Tried all last night, then again this morning. I don't think I had press return or enter after a save to confirm or something. Either way I just booted and it came right up. Yours is the most detailed video of how to do this, and without all the steps I would have had no idea

4. Use terminal to go to /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart a. sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart 5. add location of Tunerstudio.sh file a. @/home/pi/Downloads/TunerStudioMS/TunerStudio.sh 6. Ctrl+X to exit a. Command is listed as ^X. Substitute Ctrl for ^ for any command 7. Y to save changes 8. Enter to write to file location
