Frontiers of Contact: Threats and conflicts in the territory of an isolated people in Amazonia.
In the community of Nueva Oceania, in the Peruvian Amazon, the presence of the Mashco Piro, an isolated indigenous people, has become increasingly visible, which they attribute to the proximity of forestry concession operations near the reserve that protects these peoples. An OjoPublico team traveled to the area to understand the local conflicts behind the delays in the expansion of the Madre de Dios Territorial Reserve. This conflict reflects common tensions in the Amazon, where the preservation of indigenous peoples' autonomy faces challenges.
