Piaggio Fly 125 Sparkplug Change

How I learned to change the sparkplug on my Piaggio Fly 125 motor scooter.
Note: removing the plug. The plug UNscrews towards the REAR of the scooter, no matter what side you work from. It turns CLOCKWISE if you're working from the LEFT-hand side of the scooter, as I was.
Disclaimer: I am a Piaggio owner, not a Piaggio expert; I'm not even a mechanic. I live a long way from any service centre, so I've had to learn how to service and replace things myself. I am happy to share my discoveries, but cannot guarantee that what I do is the right way to do it, nor if it will work for others.

Already my second fly 125. The new yuasa battery is very good. Got this one already four years and I only reload it once every year before winter. Battery loader = 25 euro. For my first Fly, I had to buy two new batteries (which they charged me 60 to 80 euro for!) because it ran flat every winter (no kick). I look now on the internet and I find good batteries at 25 euro discount price! Knowledge is power! They won't rip me off at the garage again. Thanks for the video!

Brilliant video I like the editing it reminds me of a wildlife video of mice running around😂 When you said counterclockwise towards the front of the scooter I'm sure that was clockwise😂

Very nice i will try this with my Fly... I have a question.. it is possible to start the bike with some kind of "kick" or something? other day my battery ran off and i had to call assistance.

Fantastic video. Exact, useful, informing; BUT to open or unscrew the spark plug you said turn it clockwise! and that is wrong. To unscrew you need to turn counter clockwise. I realise you have shown the direction with that arrow. So I take it. it was a slip of the tongue. Thank you for helping us out.

Well, it depends on what side of the engine you're standing on whether it's clockwise or counter-clockwise. He's over the engine and that's different than if he were on the other side facing the spark plug directly. But I agree with you that it's more logical to describe it as if you were facing it.

There’s a blue electrical thing above my spark plug, just above the opening. Does anyone know what it is/does? One cable goes into it and two comes out.

I have a slow fly 50, and the adapter to remove the spark plug won't fit the threads... They are too deep. Anyone else having this problem. What can I do? Also great video.

With the box spanner it is not necessary to remove the plastik, so you don´t have to open the parts under the seat!

Yea i havent changed my plug in my Fly for over 12,000k's because it is such a pain to do, i need to though my Fly 125 hardly goes up hills now....

Im not able of putting the cap of the sparkplug back on. It’s pretty loose. You know what I can do to solve it? Thanks

There may be a part of the spark plug cap stuck up inside the plug removal tool. I had the same problem.

Why don't you remove the outer black plastic cover, then use a hole cutter to the size you find suitable to cut through the inner plastic to access the spark plug easier? Then never have the awkward spark plug removal ever again.

Unfortunately, no. The Fly has no kick-start lever, and it has an automatic transmission, so it can't be 'bump' started. The clutch doesn't engage unless the engine is running. Check the water levels in your battery cells - unscrew the six little plastic caps.The water should be just covering the metal plates inside. If not, top up each one with DISTILLED water - not water from the kitchen tap! However, if your battery won't charge, it may just be worn out.
