#GOLDENHOUR by ‪@JVKE‬ has been taking over the internet. It is beautiful, warm, and dreamy. So, in this lesson, Kevin Castro will teach you a simplified version and then gradually build up the complexity so you can play this beautiful theme.
Jacob Lawson known professionally as JVKE (pronounced "Jake") is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and social media personality. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, he started creating TikTok videos for his songs, one of which, "Upside Down", went viral in 2021. His debut album peaked at number 56 on the Billboard 200, while the song "Golden Hour" peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lawson released "Golden Hour" on July 15, 2022, a song that he independently wrote and produced along with editing its music video. It was his first song to chart on the Billboard charts, garnering him worldwide attention and invitations to appear on TV shows.
"Golden Hour" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 71, and peaked at number 10. It also reached number 19 on the UK Singles Chart, and as of November 2022, the song has had more than 100 million views across KZfaq, TikTok and other social media platforms.

ABOUT KEVIN CASTRO: Kevin Castro is a pianist based out of Vancouver, British Columbia who performs contemporary music. Castro adds his own jazz spin on the songs he performs during solo piano, ensuring it connects with the musicality of the set and the audience. While also performing jazz, Kevin is highly skilled in designing Synth sounds for Pop music and is a very energetic performer. Kevin has completed his Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music Program as a Piano Performance major at MacEwan University. Hi! I really REALLY need to thank you for this lesson! I wasn’t able to play the original version of Golden Hour, and in one day I managed to do it at the normal speed and also the original version! So, I need to thank you for the explanation, which was easy to understand, also because I’m not English, so it wasn’t hard to understand ^^, then, I have to thank you because I can finally play golden hour so I can play it in front of friends or relatives!

I have wanted to learn golden hour for a while... and I didn't find the right tutorial for the song, as there were ones that were too fast, but this one... perfect! although it will take me a little while to learn the song. i will keep watching the tutorial.

This is perfect! My sister asked me a few days ago to play golden hour, and I thought "oh, easy, I'll just listen to the song and using the chords (which were pulled up on guitar tab) I'll play it by ear! Turns out I am not this good, and had to pull it up on musescore... but hopefully if I can learn from this video, I'll be able to remember it next time she wants to sing it!
