I don't care how much it's played, Moonlight Sonata can NEVER be overplayed. Same goes for Chopin - Nocturne op.9 No.2

You sneak. You've got people playing the pentatonic scale. I like it but when I mention the pentatonic to actual musicians, they act like I just asked them if they want to meet my pet cobra. I don't see what the problem is. In fact, I think singing the pentatonic might be a big help to people who have poor pitch or who can't sing a note at all. It worked for me, with a 50-year gap in there. Sorry. Now I have go watch the "Is grandpa and alien?" video.

Get a couple of extra music books just above your current level. Treat yourself to a nice cushion for the piano stool. A more comfortable pair of headphones for those of us who are obliged to practice silently. Save the money for your next, better, piano.

I was lucky to see Gowan a few years back in concert. Just him and his keyboard. It was fantastic.
@rosskendall33104 сағат бұрын
😅Well, that was interesting. Not even close, but like stated, you had no chord structure to deal with at all. And granted, your chord structure sounded more like a lounge act, but I'll still go with Huey's version. But, it is what it is. And, to have no idea where verses and choruses are placed, it's way too hard to know where those are.

This is a great skills exercise for an intermediate beginner because for one thing, it can be transposed into other keys. The pattern in a minor key is 6-3 / 1-5 / 7-4 and the notes 1-3-4-5-7. I imagine you could play it in= the relative major, adding in what would be the 3-6 chord in the minor, but I haven't tried it yet. Hey, you can't just spend your whole life doing what someone else tells you. You're allowed to invent your own exercises or vary the ones in the books. Another variation is to switch hands. Always tempting for me because I am a lefty.

I remember seeing Styx when Gowan had just joined them, thinking that he did a hell of a good job. Happy to see he is still at it. Heck, he's been in the band now for 24 years, that's longer than Dennis DeYoung spent there himself. Hard to imagine, heh!

The more talented the musician, the more anxious they are about being too simple, and they tend to over-complicate everything.

If she were doing one of the popular songs today it would have been much easier for her.
@user-gn4mq9wi4j7 сағат бұрын
Unbelievable, unique take - but kind of doesn't go with the song, he almost wants to be front and center, as opposed to being in tune with the rest of the tune. He wasn't trying to play along, he was just trying to solo his own stuff. The piano in this song is almost too quiet and simple for him.
@user-gn4mq9wi4j7 сағат бұрын
When he does play along at the end, he layers in complexity. Simply stated, I think he is bored by pop music.
@homiiciidalkiitten66507 сағат бұрын
You can play an octave or you can play fifth if you prefer.... ok but in the recorded version of the song what do they do? ❤ To add: these turorials are amazing not trying to be sassy or anything just have an obessive personality :)
