After 25 years I never once thought to tap with the pick, usually going with my middle finger while holding the pick with my index, and thumb. Thank you for showing me this. Still learning after all these years.

I'm trying to do infused by rings of Saturn and I don't even think the chromatic part is possible
@aethericphoenix34234 жыл бұрын
Once you get the hang of it becones essy,your right hand finger always has to tap then do soft bend and let go,hell just gotta practice for stamina in the left hand qq

Literally looked this up for that lmao

Thank you for teaching me what I've been listening to these last thirty years that I've been a Satriani fan. I recognized several distinct Satch sounds; the last bit you did, when the pick was over the pick-ups, sounded like something he does during Surfing with the Alien.
@michaelm44643 жыл бұрын
He DOES do this exact technique in Surfing With The Alien. It's basically a chromatic run down the neck on the E string starting on the 21st fret I believe.

I've been playing guitar for five minutes and I want to play necrophagist by tomorrow. do you have a course that fits decades of shredding into one course? :p

Relatively Large Matt I have one, its called "Imagination"
Thanks for the lesson. A lot of people demonstrate it but never really break it down. Sometimes a good guitar player and a good teacher are two different. Thanks again .

A technique Lucas Mann uses very extensively. He uses it all over the fretboard though, so you definitely don't have to stick to just the high E.

Did I get it right? In your Super System, I need to memorize all those seven patterns and then memorize which pattern every mode consists of? Don't wanna approach it the wrong way. I'm glad I found your channel, your lessons, and you in particular! Great guitarist, thank you so much!

I'm so dumb I never thought about this technique, especially with nails this trick will help so much
@ryanohlson41817 жыл бұрын
my favorite use of this is the intro to the solo in The River Dragon Has Come by Nevermore. I'm not sure if Loomis plays it with the pick or not, but I do. It's much easier to get a quick, clear double tap that way.
@ermguitar20523 жыл бұрын
Jeff Loomis is basically at the point where he doesn't even need a guitar to play - he can just use his willpower to produce notes.
@K0rp03 жыл бұрын

I've been pick tapping for a long time because I just couldn't get down finger tapping without muting or partially muting the notes. About time I learn finger tapping though. Gotta say though, you might as well do them in time. Not that hard to do 1/32 notes when it's just pick tapping.

@michaelm44643 жыл бұрын
I love this part in Surfing With The Alien. Probably the easiest part of that song for me to play. Once he gets into the sweep picking parts, I just tap out. No pun intended.

I have a question Tyler. If i tab onto my high e 12th fret from open high e unplugged, it sounds like a dissonance.. When i plug the guitar in, it's all crystal clear, if i hold my right hand slighty over the strings (frets 1 - 3ish) there's no dissonant sound either.. i also have this small piece of cloth wrapped around my nut and this seems to cancel out the dissonance slighty i am worried if theres a defect in my guitar neck honestly is this normal?
@s.n.81287 жыл бұрын
it's not as strong as a tritone btw, its just slightly
@Not_what_it_used_to_be7 жыл бұрын
it's the sound of the string vibrating on the other side of the fret. Your pickups only pick up the string vibrating directly over them, so you only hear this unwanted sound acoustically.
@Not_what_it_used_to_be7 жыл бұрын
Four Fingers it's completely normal
@s.n.81287 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! it was not bothering me at all.. since, as i said, when its plugged in it sounds perfect. but i was worried if there was a minor issue, that could develop into something bigger if untreated! Thank you!

Hey Tyler, i know this is not the video i was supposed to ask things in, but i've been having this problem with my low e string doing this "buzzing" sound, i have searched all around the internet, but found nothing useful, could someone help me please? Thanks!
@betterwithmetal3617 жыл бұрын
Numeradox Could be couple of things. Action set too low, worn out fret or incorrectly adjusted truss rod.
