Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) are small reddish brown flower buds. This spice has a strong aroma, hot and pungent taste. Cloves are native to Indonesia, especially North Maluku and one of the important spices in the spice trade route.
Cloves, which have the Latin name Syzygium aromaticum, are dried flower stalks that come from the Mirtaceae tree family. Since centuries ago, cloves have been used as a spice in cooking as well as herbal medicine.
Apart from the leaves, flowers and fruit, clove oil is also often used as aromatherapy and as a topical medicine to relieve toothache.
