Great idea. In my kitchen I put scallions with its roots in a jar with some water and just add more water as needed. If roots get slimy I rinse under filtered water but keep some of the old water in the jar. I leave most of the dried growth on as well.

@@BurnerAckman There are nasty people anywhere you go, but most Montanans only care about are you a reliable hard worker and do you have good morals. The housing situation is a sh!t show here too, but the state is working hard to rebalance those scales, the roots of this state do not have money (generational locals) and Montana recognizes the effects outside money is having on its true residents. Our outdoor growing season is short, but we're crafty peeps and have figured out ways to grow even during winter. 😁

@@BurnerAckman don't let them old ladies fool you! 🤣 A few of them might just try to go full cougar on ya! I would definitely suggest you start by looking to one of the main cities to get a feel for what you do and don't like - Missoula, Bozeman, Billings. The winters can be VERY harsh here, so I would not recommend starting in a smaller town unless/until you know you love it and can handle the sometimes -50's that we get. Winters here can last 9 months out of the year. Me personally, I f***ing love it! I love knowing all of my neighbors, the quiet, seeing the stars at night. And then I travel to fill my city cup lol.

We bought a thyme start almost three years ago now. It spent most of its time in a raised be with squash and tomatoes. We had to move it to a small half barrel about 5 months ago to make room for this years garden. That thing has been a champ. It just wants to be watered and have fresh soil now at then and it just goes and goes. The little half barrel will not last long so I'll have to find a nice sunny patch to put it in somewhere. Now I have to figure out what to do with the lavender that was only about the size of a softball when we got it, and it's grown to the point of requiring a wheel barrow to move it wherever we choose to transplant it. And the rosemary it about to outgrow it's barrel pot. Halp 🤣

I felt so bad. I was doing a video about planting out my spring crops and I had some seeds from Botanical Interests. So I wanted to name drop you along with your seeds, but my brain farted and I almost called you Eric because that's been a thing, but I remembered your name isn't Eric, but there's so much emotion attached to your name not being Eric that I couldn't remember you're Kevin in that moment. BTW, your basil seeds are insane! They germinated in under two days. I'm used to waiting for my basil after all my tomatoes are up, but your basil seeds did NOT keep me waiting!

Where I'm living there is the beed called Kräuterschnecke ( Herbs Snail) it's basically a planting beed that spirals up with different typs of earth and sand ratio in it. The top has mediterane plants with the most sand part in the soil. And as it goes down to the end of the spiral it has more compost earth for plants like basil. Since this beed grows into hight it has one side that casts shadow for herbs that like some more shadow. The thyme is growing like crazy at the top of the Kräuterschnecke. PS. If i'm not explaining it very well plz go an google Kräuterschnecke. I'm not very good at writing in english especialy explaining something like this :P

Okay - you had me at shortbread. I am in the Mid-west, technically zone 5b/6a, which is a Diva zone - because our winters can act like zone 3- 4 and our summers can resemble 7-8. Thyme can be an annual in my area altho I've had it overwinter and come back for a 2nd season. I don't gamble and start it from seed every year sometime in Feb. I overseed 4 large start cells, then transplant to a large 4 X 2 container. I usually end up with Thyme coming out of my ears - and now I am all over Ana's shortbread recipe. Thank you!
