There's an interesting documentary (HBO, I think) called "Risky Drinking" that covers this topic. It shows people dealing with alcohol issues, but also goes into the science that says that alcohol abuse is a spectrum; people tend to think of it in terms of "you're either an alcoholic or you're not", but really it's more complicated than that. That first girl might very well *not* be an alcoholic, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't abuse alcohol or have an unhealthy relationship with it.

I used to clean for a lady who drank 3 boxes of wine a day. She also set her house on fire by dumping the ash tray in her bedroom trash can, then went out back. When the firefighters arrived, she begged them to save her cigarettes and boxes of wine. Then she called me and asked me to bring wine and cigs. I only did ever bring the cigarettes. I quit cleaning for her after that. She was suppose to be taking care of her 90 year old parents too. Luckily the smoke detectors work.

To be fair, she said her mother also drinks at least one bottle of wine every night and fell drunk into the mirror and destroyed it. If you grow up with such a rolemodel that's not great either.

She's got more problems than drinking and she doesn't think they're problems, either. Listen to her "I live my life, I do what I want to do..that's what you do when you're a kid, you drink...you're a freshman, you're in college, you go out every night". Blah, blah. I hope her entitled/spoiled self gets some hard economic lessons, soon. It's pretty hard to party, wear your make-up, your "trendy" clothes, keep a roof over your head, when you can't get a job because you flunked out, don't have any work ethic and never learned any marketable skills because you think you can live off of other people with your "cutesy" attitude. Men will get tired of her, even if she gets sober, and stop her gravy train.

Beware youtube Friends. I saw a documentary in which a mother was grieving the loss of her beloved son who had passed away due to alcohol poisoning After one single night out! It was explained that the excessive consumption of alcohol led him into a coma and he died as his Friends also inebriated thought he would sleep it off. I used to binge drink And I never knew one could die in that fashion 🥺 Peace And love to you all✌🏽💕👃🔥💚

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g6xlqrGky7HTaGg.html Hope is not how it works in real life: Alcohol is a legal and state-sponsored poison. Used as a means of crowd control. Toxic to the body in every way. There is not a single tissue that alcohol does not deleteriously affect. Highly addictive. Depressant. Hugely destructive to family and relationship life. Thousands killed in road accidents. Associated with violence. Advertised everywhere. Fooling everyone until the damage is done. Hope that enlightens you.

You can get sober, but you can't get your youth back and you can't get the time back, you can't get your good reputation back (but your bad reputation will stick with you for life), and you really cannot get the relationships back. Your family and close friends (not drinking friends) will never really trust you again. Alcoholism and drug addiction takes away and doesn't give back

Somehow against all odds, I managed to avoid alcoholism, but my life was surrounded by alcoholics in my family and among my close friends. I watched some drink themselves to death and I watched some recover. But those who recover have deep scars in their lives - not only personally for them, but also for the people around them. Alcoholism is an ugly thing. Alcohol is so destructive it is impossible to describe. If we are all to be honest, nearly everybody has at least one alcoholic in their lives. It is so pervasive in the world. I have had heroin addicts in my world and I have had alcoholics in my world. Alcohol is not better or cleaner or safer than heroin.

Bullshit...bullshit and more bullshit. Take away message kids: don't fucking drink because it turns your life into a big pile of steaming shit, but it is possible to get your life back after alcoholism. I would hate for an alcoholic reading this to get the wrong idea. It's the hardest thing you'll ever do, and the easiest thing to do is not to freaking drink in the first place, but if you're out there, and you're already an alcoholic...you can get your life back.
@explorermike19

Tobie, you are dead wrong suggesting that getting sober fixes the past. A person can recover from addiction, but they cannot erase the bad things they did when they were an drunk/addict. Drunks/Addicts hurt other people. People might forgive (often they have to forgive for their own peace), but they don't forget. if you have a criminal record, it doesn't get erased when you are sober. If you killed someone by drunk driving, they don't come to life after you get sober. If you physically or verbally abuse your children when you are drunk, they don't heal mentally or physically because you get sober. If you have a bad work record when you were drunk, you don't get a "do-over" when you get sober. If you make a complete ass of yourself in front of other people, they don't say "oh, that was the drunk. She is sober now, so let's pretend it didn't happen". Drunk or sober, the things you do matter. You don't fix things by getting sober, you only get sober. That is the honest reality of alcoholism/addiction.
@explorermike19

Eric, I am sorry to hear that you and your family and your friends had to experience alcoholism. You know the damage it does. Nobody has to tell you. The good thing is that your child did not have to go through it with you. Now, be prepared that somewhere down the road, somebody is probably going to tell your child about something bad that you did in your drinking days or tell them about your drinking. That is just the way it is. Can't help it. Don't let it weigh you down. Some people get their kicks out of doing that kind of thing. Just spend your life being the best you can be every day and don't dwell on the past. Learn from your mistakes, but don't dwell on them. You are smarter than before. You can live a better life now than you ever could have before.

Sometimes, with girls like Rachel, it's not the booze that causes the behavior (that results in pregnancy), it's just who they are. They're like that without liquor. Liquor just gives them an excuse (i.e. "I didn't know I was that drunk...He should have known I was too drunk...) to be loose (trying to keep my remarks clean). They know they can blame it on the guy and get away with whatever they want to do. These type of females aren't worth it,

Of all the people I have known who recovered from alcoholism, all of them made it through by AA. I think part of it is that there is an AA meeting nearly everywhere in the world - even in many countries overseas. AA gives folks hope. Everybody thinks their situation and their misery is unique. They go to a meeting and they find out that they are not alone and in the room is someone who's story is exactly the same as theirs

How can one be fearful and anxious in college? One is just starting out in the world and needs to learn how to handle uncomfortable feelings. Whether one is working their way through college, on scholarship, receiving some assistance from government or being completely subsidized by mommy and daddy, what gives you the right to waste an opportunity for the chance to have further education by thinking "excessive drinking in college is normal"?
@asiacarr7991
@asiacarr7991 5 жыл бұрын
How can one be fearful and anxious in college? As a recent college grad theres a lot to be fearful and anxious about. Young people are expected to go to college. Expected to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives. Many of us can’t afford school and go into massive debt. We struggle to pay rent to live in shitty apartments or rental houses with other students. Many of us don’t have scholarships paying for everything. Many of us work a full time job on top of being a full time student. Many students don’t have help from “mommy and daddy” to pay for school. It is a rarity to see a student who doesn’t have to work and hustle every day. All this for what? To graduate and try to find a job in an unstable economy damaged by the decisions made by those before us? I wish I could say this wasn’t the norm. I can say however that every single person I went to college with had a full time job on top of being a full time student and still struggled to make ends meet. It’s not easy being a student in this day and age. Unfortunately many students self medicate with alcohol to try to cope with all the above. There is plenty to feel anxious and fearful about. Take this from a recent grad who knows what it is like.

And honestly, adding to what the other comments say... As someone who already has extreme anxiety and sometimes feels the need to self medicate,,, it’s hard especially when financially dependent on someone else. (It’s obviously a blessing and I’m so grateful to have people to support me) but The guilt of being so anxious and feeling like you need to buy things to help you through the journey of colllege on top of the guilt that comes when you spend someone else’s money on these vices is really hard to deal with. I also thing it sometimes Makes it worse. It’s such a 1st world problem I know but feeels shitty regardless
