My husband with ADHD has this same problem. He once went on a short solo vacation and lost 15 lbs from his already thin frame. He simply forgot to eat much of the time. 😬 A frequent question the kids and I ask when he returns from work each day is "Did you eat or drink anything today? "

As someone in recovery from an eating disorder, I wanted to say THANK YOU for a nutrition video that doesn't demonize different foods!! My heart sank when I heard you mention fast and slow absorbtion carbs, but then I realized you were looking at it as "these different foods have different nutritional purposes" and I couldn't have been happier to hear it! This type of information is SO IMPORTANT, and I'm so grateful to you for this balanced, science-based, and holistic nutrition advice!

Overview: 1) Eating time consistency in linked to sleep cycle 2) Eating the breakfast might help us be more energized (Also linked to good sleep) 3) More protein consumption is linked to better sleep (But not overdose which could backfire) 4) quick digesting carbs (simple carbs) help us fall sleepy earlier, so a meal could be planned accordingly 5) Slow digesting carbs are also high in fiber which help in slow and steady release of energy trough the day 6) vitamin deficiency could impact sleep 7) Banana + almond butter make up for a great sleep meal 8)Caffeine takes 8 hours to get out of our system, so consume caffeine 8 hours before sleep 9)Not being hydrated could be one of the key reasons for feeling tired very often (Could place a cup by table as a reminder or flavor for making it easy to hydrate) 10)Effect of Fat, Salt etc.. on sleep and a lot more info about this topic in general available on the link in the description.

It's a bit of a feedback loop too, isn't it? I'm that way all the time. If I'm stressed I don't eat as well, and then that makes me feel more drained, adds to the stress, and the loop continues. But I remind myself that even small changes can go a long way. I'm glad to hear what we shared might be helpful, Khalilah. All the best with your studies!

As a student training to become a registered dietitian, I appreciate that you actually collaborated with a dietitian on this video, and it also shows. You don't highlight 'superfoods' because there is no such thing, and you focus on research based evidence that relates the balanced macronutrient (food) diet, and other life habits with systematic physiological changes instead of singular mechanisms that are alone not responsible for the outcomes. One of the big reasons I'm going into this field is because bloggers and non experts are everywhere telling people things they just don't understand and it harms people's view of food. This was so much more useful than a majority of what's out there. Basically, thank you for responsibly making this video!

Wow this video and ur blog was so well-written and researched! So eye-opening and inclusive of different lifestyles while encouraging small changes! Love how you didn't say coffee is bad, just limit it near bedtime. Vitamins aren't bad, but strive to get it in food. White rice isn't bad, it just digests quicker. Animal protein isn't bad, it just doesn't promote sleep as well as plant protein options etc etc! This is the way to educate people!!!

I've been making the hummus recipe you showed us about a year ago. I always go to your channel first to find recipes! I've watched so many of your videos. I like your style and I love your vegan approach. I am still working on adding more beans and nuts to my diet. Thanks for showing us a healthy vegan diet!

I love this!! Becoming more aware of my food choices has been the biggest gamechanger in my life regarding a good night of sleep. Would really love to hear more about scientific explanations/facts on the impact of eating sugars & sweets in the night as well, because I realized how the reason I couldn't sleep as a kid and teenager was often that I ate a lot of sugar really late which also makes us more awake and stimulates our brain like caffeine. Everybody knows about coffee I feel, but this went under my radar for sooo long. (I don't do sugars/sweets much these days apart from fruits) but I'd love for more people to know about this!! Much love🤗

I have rheumatoid fatigue I think, and it’s something I just discovered recently was a thing. I’ve been tired and rundown feeling since 2013 and no one told me. I’d love to find some tips for autoimmune issues and how to avoid fatigue with that bc it seems like nothing helps except (sometimes) B12. I’m planning to go back to a mostly plant-based if not completely plant based diet ASAP. (I don’t buy the groceries bc I live with my parents and I’m disabled.) I wanted to understand nutrition from the standpoint of rheumatoid and how plant-based/ vegan can help.

Talk to a nutritionist, it's ridiculous to think that a KZfaqr should know and be an expert on how different diseases interact with their preferred diet. She cannot tell you these things and it's important so take it seriously. You could also try the tips and see if they help.

This is such a timely video for me. Thanks for always putting out such thoughtful and helpful content. I would love to hear your thoughts/research on how to eat for hormonal changes. Aging and hormone changes have made weight maintenance so much harder than it ever used to be. Some guidance would be much appreciated! :-)

Thank you and your team for all your amazing vides - you have made transitioning to a plant based diet and lifestyle much more easier with your tips and delicious recipes. Not sure if this is possible, but I would love to see a video on plant based nutrition for expecting mothers and for young children and what your recommendations (and recipes!) are in the future. Thanks :)

Please explore iodine deficiency and thyroid function for vegans. Over the last decade or two it's become fashionable in the wellness community to use pink salt or sea salt or kosher salt as opposed to table salt which means that vegans are only getting iodine from sea vegetables and dietary supplements. I realized recently that I have no natural sources of iodine in my daily diet since it's just not practical where I live to eat seaweed daily. Iodine is necessary for thyroid function and low thyroid function can cause fatigue as well as a whole host of problems with depression, raised cholesterol, hypertension, and more.

and to top it off, a lot of foods are eliminated for thyroid sufferers. i take them anyway but would like to know if theres an alternative diet .
