Ab Remcon I’m sure his take would be the same as mine after seeing way to many Chrysler products in the shop over a 30 plus year time span. Chrysler’s QC has sucked since the 60’s, they have a few great drivetrain components over the years (transmissions are not one of them since the late 90’s) it’s the little stuff that piles up that drives people nuts.

Why can't we just be enthusiasts without advertising what we do in our bedrooms? That's not hate, just an honest question.
@Pickuptrucktalk4 жыл бұрын
It is an angle that some enthusiasts take. I'm not 100% sure why Jake chose this way to promote his channel. I have lots of friends in this industry who do the same thing, so he isn't alone. Many of them write for publications with gay in the title or implied.

I thought I caught that? Seems like a cool dude, but I'm not a fan of that either. And I'm not a homophobic type
@cbrookb4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Make it simple. I'm a truck enthusiast. Personal information beyond that is irrelevant. It's agenda driven.
@OutMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Hey there. It's always interesting when people go to thoughts of sex before like, relationships or simple attraction. Anyway. The point of the channel existing (and the website, Facebook, Instagram) is that there's this stigma - whether it's true or not - that if you're going to be a LGBT car/truck enthusiast, autocrosser, racer, rallycrosser, etc., you shouldn't show up as your whole self to meets and events. Others talk about their girlfriends and wives but it's easier if you keep your boyfriend quiet. Heaven forbid you're trans, some people will just walk away when they find that out. We built this thing because much like someone has to be the first person on the dance floor at a wedding, someone has to be the first person to show other LGBT folks that you can show up as your authentic self and not only be tolerated, but embraced. Not everyone sees the point in that, and that's okay. But if this channel gets to some kid who's a car enthusiast and also questioning their identity, makes them understand "you can be both" and prevents years of struggle or worse, self-harm, we've succeeded. We appeal to the LGBT+ community first and foremost, and the feedback we receive on that end is nothing but positive.
@MudMonsterRacing44 жыл бұрын
Yeah I didn't and still don't understand this. Maybe Jake will chime in. I don't care either way but it seems over the top here. The two things have no correlation. It's like me going to a a car show and announcing that I like liver.

Great video. Thing is I had the opposite problem. I had purchased a brand new 2016 Ram 1500 sport. Beautiful truck, I only had it for 2yrs and just 50,000 miles. Alot of electrical problems. Hemi tick, replaced manifolds, two harnesses and a camera for tailgate. Interior overhead console. But the big problem was check engine light kept coming on. Each time you cleared codes 4 random different codes would come up. But the main problem was it kept saying BCM not communicating. And Ram couldn't guarantee a fix...so I traded it in for a Ford f250 6.2 love it . Just not happy at all with Ram quality and them not standing behind their products...

The only issue you should have with the Ram is the exhaust manifold bolts shearing off making you spend money to have it repaired. I've had 4 rams, 2009, 2011, 2013 and now 2015. The 2009, 2013 and 2015 have the 5.7 and the exhaust manifold bolts all have failed between 90,000 and 105,000. No other issues so far. Now I have 116,000 miles on my 2015.

Whether its a ford with engine problems or a dodge with transmission problems or whatever, i think that the service in connection to the issue is what makes or breaks a customers choice of purchase. Its cool that the guy still thinks pretty highly of ford, but chryslers willingness (in this case) to handle the issue now and here still under warranty says it all. Between my fiancee and i, we have 4 chryslers (‘05 sebring, ‘10 dakota, ‘97 t&c, ‘04 durango), and they all run great! Ill be fair to say that they tend to burn oil, develop minor leaks, and are more prone to electrical issues as they get older (in my experience). That said, keeping the fluids topped of and keeping up on routine maintenance goes a long way and keeps these thirsty machines rolling, i cant complain :)

Have a 2019 f150 with v8. Doesnt burn oil but the transmission was shifting a little jerky. Took it to the dealer and they told me because i changed the stock tires to some beefier 33inch tires, the shifting points of the transmission were a little miss calibrated. They re calibrated the shifting tables of the transmission and reset the ECU, now it drives like a beast and smooth as when i had stock tires. There are so many ford f150s out there, 3times the amount of the next best seller so theres bound to be some lemons. Just to elaborate on his problem I have a 2017 2nd gen 3.5 ecoboost and I had the exact same noise on cold start ups , it also continues for the first 2 minutes of every drive . I went in for the service bulletin and got really lucky , the technician actually cared and said listen the tsb wont work we need to replace all four vct solenoids , it was a huge job. Thev also inspected the timing chain . My problem is now 90% fixed I rarely ever hear it and if I do it's not nearly as loud, I'm also very picky with noises but that's just me . I was told the noises were normal ... and would cause no damage. Dont believe it guys a metal ratcheting sound is never normal and you cant guarantee me that my truck wont have premature engine failure. What proves it for me is the fact that ford installed 4 updated vct solenoids that were designed to fix the noise lolll so there's the proof . If anyone needs help just ask I'll send a picture of the dealer work order .

When I got out of the service, the engine would literally start to stall on the expressway, which is quite an event commuting everyday for college. The truck had less that 70k miles and was meticulously maintained. Goes back to the cardinal rule. Don’t buy a car with a newly designed engine or trans for the first couple years so they can work out the bugs. The old coyote 5.0 is bulletproof. I would never buy a dodge however if I did the hemi is their best engine.

Oil burning is the subject of another TSB... thankfully mine only had the ratcheting issue. The pre-2018 5.0s were excellent.

@@OutMotorsports I would disagree. The 2011-2017 also consume oil. Cylinder #8 has issues with insufficient cooling. Running a tune or towing heavy and that cylinder can over heat and score cylinder walls. 80 000km (50k miles) and it needed timing chains and cam phasers replaced, and a leaking water pump.

I have a 2016 Tacoma. 55k. Thing is really not great at anything, but a good reliable vehicle. Kinda small, so I too wanted to trade for a full size truck. But I have no idea what to get. It seems the big 3 are problematic. The tundra is very dated looking and thirsty , but reliable. Every time I see a video like this, I figure I'll just keep what I have.... reliable and decent mpgs. Any suggestions. P.s. I don't tow and I really don't use a truck besides diy home Depot stuff. Thanks

Crash test ratings are part of the buying process, however, I'd argue, with most trucks really improving over the years to be similar, it isn't THE decision maker for most.

I love the Sport appearance (generally not a fan of much chrome)! The Range Rover was easily one of the best and most reliable vehicles I've had. Bought it at 94k miles, sold it six months later with 105k. Nothing went wrong and everything worked. If I had kept it, I'd eventually need to address the (very light) leak from the steering rack. The 2007-2012 Range Rovers and LR3/LR4 are awesome vehicles and tend to be fairly reliable. Jaguar V8s, ZF automatics, Eaton superchargers, Bosch electronics, and random Ford and BMW parts. I'd have another one yesterday if I had somewhere to park it.

Hmmm, a low mileage Ram and it needed a new transmission and he’s ok with that? I really like all these new pickups but they really seem like junk. I’m very reluctant to to spend so much money on a new pickup only to have issues with it. The big 3 seem to all have problems. Maybe I wait for the new Frontier or wait on the Ranger to see if it has serious issues. Used vehicles seem to be a crapshoot as well even with a ppi.

I hate to say this but you jumped from the frying pan and into the fire. The 5.7 Hemi's are wiping out camshaft lobes like crazy due to seized lifter roller bearings. It's about a $4000 fix. Happening anywhere from 70-100k miles. There are videos all over KZfaq if you're interested. On another note, I also have a 2018 F150 5.0 liter with that same exact noise. Did the TSB reflash, still there. Now it has 20k on it and the thing runs flawlessly still. Is he noise annoying? Absolutely. As long as she keeps running, I can deal with it. Good luck with the new truck and great video.
@ES-pr8bt4 жыл бұрын
hdz12ez yes some of the 5.7 Hemis are having this problem but it’s at around 100,000 miles. The 5 litre is having issues at bran new
@OutMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I knew about the camshaft concern. Truck only has 46k on it now and is CPO'd for the next 3 years or 'til 100k miles. Given my car-ADD, I suspect that'll cover me just fine, should anything happen. From what I read, the issues are largely with the earlier Hemis and mid-2015ish saw some parts updated to help avoid this?

Sentrell Rodriguez My 2005 Ford Escape with 132000 miles can drive just fine in 15 degree weather when the engine idles at 2000 rpms because of how absolutely freezing it is and it doesn’t make a sound. This brand new truck shouldn’t be having an issue either. But unfortunately all these automakers actually make these days is over complex junk.
@YoungSentrell4 жыл бұрын
@@francesco1998 i wasn't saying its a weather issue i was saying he should've waited for the vehicle's engine to reach operational temps before driving. But i do agree No manufacture makes vehicles how they use to from the mid to early 2000s and the 90s. I would sacrifice all the bells and whistles, trims & horsepower that these new cars brag on to have the Reliability that cars from when your escape was built
@francesco19984 жыл бұрын
Sentrell Rodriguez It doesn’t matter what the weather was I’m just putting it in there to tell you how cold my engine runs. In case you didn’t know weather temperature affects the temperature of the engine. My almost 16 year old freezing cold engine runs perfectly fine but a brand new Coyote can’t? Ridiculous.
@YoungSentrell4 жыл бұрын
@@francesco1998 i know exactly how weather effects the motor thats why im saying he should let it warm up. if you run a motor ice cold you're gonna run into issues & no its not gonna sound normal. Those new F-150s have active grille shutters to let the engine warm up quicker ford didnt do that for no reason let the thing warm up.
@francesco19984 жыл бұрын
Sentrell Rodriguez I never run into issues on my 05 Escape, 2012 Grand Caravan, or 2015 Grand Cherokee when I run the motors cold, freezing cold. Ford puts those shudders on for efficiency reasons, it gets better MPG’s on highway and it’s more efficient to heat up faster. They didn’t do it because they feared it would make noises when cold, it shouldn’t do that anyway. Don’t defend junk dude, automakers need to start building these things proper if they’re going to be shoving all of this tech into them.
