Spell Caster Spam Musubi
I thought I’d start adding a couple more videos a month rather than just four videos. I think I’ll try to add an extra video every other Wednesdays as well, at least for the summer months. I love Spam Musubi, a great treat at a picnic or a good lunch item. Just adding some flavor to the rice makes it even better!
Ingredients:
1 can Spam (sliced)
1/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 green onions (chopped)
1 small packet katsuobushi
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1.5 tbsp water
1/2 tsp dashi powder
1 tsp ginger paste
1.5 cups cooked rice
Strips of roasted seaweed
Direction:
Mix sugar, soy sauce, water, dashi powder, and ginger paste. In a pan add in a couple slices of spam, cook on medium heat. Flip over once there’s some color on one side, add in about 2 to 3 spoonfuls of the sauce and let it simmer. Flip the spam again. Once sauce starts to caramelize take spam out. Add cheese, green onions, katsuobushi, and 3 to 4 spoonfuls of left over sauce and mix it well. Use a spam musubi mold if you have one, if not, mold the rice with your hands. Place cooked spam on top and wrap in seaweed and serve.
一月に出す動画をもっと増やそうとして頑張ってます。せめて夏の季節の間だけでも増やせる様にします。ピクニックなどで食べるスパム結びが大好きなので今日はとんでもなく美味いスパムむすびのレシピです。
材料:
スパム缶1個
刻みチェダーチーズ1/3カップ
万能ネギ2本(刻み)
鰹節小パック1
砂糖小さじ1
醤油大さじ1
水大さじ1.5
顆粒出汁小さじ1/2
おろし生姜小さじ1
白米1.5合
焼き海苔を適量
作り方:
砂糖、醤油、水、顆粒出汁、おろし生姜を混ぜます。フライパンで切ったスパムを中火で焼き目をつけ、タレをスプーンで2、3杯。スパムにタレがよく馴染んだらフライパンから出します。炊いた白米にチーズ、刻みネギ、鰹節、残ったタレを混ぜ合わし、型をとるか手で結ぶか。焼いたスパムを乗せて焼き海苔で巻いてま仕上がって下さい。

I would never have thought to add cheese and katsuobushi to the rice. I’m definitely going to try this out soon. Looks good.

I love Spam Musubi. Never had it with cheese. But please tell me, how come so many KZfaq cooks don't own a proper kitchen stove?

Thanks! Cheese gives the rice some nice richness. I use this portable stove rather then my kitchen stove mainly for aesthetic purposes. My kitchen stove is an old school electric coil stove and doesn’t look neat. Plus cooking with gas is way more efficient than my electric kitchen stove.
