Judy demonstrates how to KNIT A PICOT CAST ON.. This is a sweet edging for the bottom of a baby sweater or blanket. There are many other instances where you would want to use it as well. Very clever, and you demonstrated it so well. It occurs to me that someone had to have been stranded at home in a snow storm of some magnitude to have sat knitting and created this border! Or, it was someone like me who made a colossal mistake and liked the outcome! : ) Thank you so much for showing us all how to make this beautiful edge!

I'm wondering why you cast on five, bind off two at first, but then after transferring the one stitch back to the left on each repeat, you only cast on three more stitches, so it seems like you're working with four and not five. Do you always need an extra stitch at the beginning? Thank you.
@hal7ter
@hal7ter 8 жыл бұрын
+Jane K Five minus the two that you bind off, leaves three stitches - so the first picot is three sts from the edge, and she likes her picots right next to one another - I'll be making mine (on a shawl) at least 3 stitches apart, so I will be casting on five sts after the first picot. Talking to myself here - hoping I get it straight.

I'm also curious about this. Looks like you have a dangling first stitch that doesn't fit the pattern. Why the 5 cast on stitches the first time?
