Alejandro and De le Vega arrive at the mine to prevent the murder of the workers.
The Mask Of Zorro: When a power-crazed despot schemes to buy California from Mexico, it takes two Zorros--the legendary Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) and his chosen successor Alejandro Murrieta (Antonio Banderas), a dashing bandit-turned-hero-- to defeat the tyrant's unscrupulous plans. But can even their combined skills, bravado and derring-do be enough to achieve de la Vega's ultimate goal: revenge against the man who killed his wife, kidnapped his daughter and held him prisoner for twenty years?

Also it goes back to what Alejandro learned about the smaller circles and not fighting with anger but focus. He and Captain Love duel in a wider space that gradually gets smaller as the duel progresses. Captain Love eventually loses it and fights with anger, which makes him irrational. Alejandro was taught to focus as he narrows in on his target. He manages to restrain himself to win and avenge his brother.

I always like when they incorporate the training of how a fighter becomes a fighter, and they actually use it in the fights. Alejandro a few different times used his training with the ropes, the whip, tumbling, and of course, the sword, to win. Shows the lessons coming together just like de la Vega said they would.

They don't make villains like Rafael anymore. This guy inadvertently got Don Diego's wife killed, burned his house down, imprisoned him for life, and took his child. I get it's more dramatic for the hero's mentor to die and to accentuate how evil the villain is, but that part always frustrated me. The daughter runs over, even knowing the guy isn't her real father and that he's a scumbag, trying to stop him from being killed, but then she ends up getting them *BOTH* killed in the end, lol. If she would have let her real father kill Rafael from the start she'd still have him around.

Interestingly this movie has thin historical connections. There really was Murietta-named Mexican bandit in Spanish California killed by captain Love. Real captain Love wasn't this kind of person. This Captain Love is not as refined as Alejandro is, but he is strong, fast and unrelentingly aggressive fighter. Without enviromental hazards playing against him he could have won through sheer attrition.

This movie is so awesome for so many reasons and has become one of my go-to movies for when I want to relax to something truly good. One of the things that makes it so good is the villains, both in how they are true, proper, well-crafted villains and how they're finished off in satisfying ways. Many things make the defeat of Love and Montero satisfying but what makes a villain's end truly great is when a degree of karmic justice is included. Love and Montero had committed many atrocities but perhaps the greatest we see is their willingness to sacrifice so many innocent lives for gold. So how did they ultimately meet their end? That very wagon full of gold dragged Montero to his demise before crushing and finishing off Captain Love. Perfect.

Some people ask how Alejandro became a wealthy land owner because Diego De La Vega only trained him how to fight and be a gentleman. He did not leave him any anything else but the items in the Zorro cave. Alejandro went back later to pick up the Gold bars. This made him rich enough to own California.

The best part of all is that Legend may never died but in order to make it never die is to be with someone that is willing to learn everything from their master and know how to use it right. To be also mention of having mentor is a reason how legend never die and that is big responsibilities cuz gotta think each choice you make has consequences but to do it together the consequences will never be in your way again being solo is originally made for those who has the right gears and the right mind, that what I know of understanding while I was playing war video games haha

It went to Santa Ana... One of the alternate endings, shows Alejandro leading the people rescued away from the mine area, back toward town. Santa Ana and his army arrives, and there's a conversation about who the people are and what has happened at the mine. Santa Ana orders his men to see that the people receive food, water and safe escort home. He then asks Alejandro about Zorro. "It could be anyone..." is essentially the answer, and fade to credits. Elena would've gotten whatever Montero had for an estate, most likely... some of which, was obviously what Montero took from Don Diego. That would've been the stake that gave them their start together.
