Pier fishing here on Eastbourne Pier in England is a great way to spend a few Hours.Today i head down to fish this Historic Victorian structure. It has a nice club type atmosphere and has a reputation for good Seasonal Fishing,

Haven’t fished EB pier in 35 years, piers changed a bit but still lots of little dabs, use to get codling in winter months and bass in summer , my first I caught aged 11 years was a pollock on lug mid water, that 5lb fish got me hooked, if course total fluke but only had one weight and didn’t want to lose it kept getting stuck on the bottom hence me d water fishing, spent the next few years on the pier until discovering wine women and fun😂😂

If Dabs grew to 20lb they'd be the most expensive fish, their taste is absolutely superb.. just a shame they're so small. Fished a night session of Bournemouth beach in 91 caught a Dab of 1lb 10oz it was huge. Superb meal. Never caught one anywhere near that ever again..

Nice one again Matt, in some sunny weather. The Eastbourne pier is a welcome change, especially if your taking your partner or kids, but is a very shallow water venue. Langney Point just up the bay is a much better venue with a greater variety of fish to be had, and larger specimens.

After hearing what you said about fishing new places I thought maybe I should be doing the same, my local pier is usually excellent at this time of year for big Pollack but I haven't had even a bite last 3 times I've been out, I have one rod floating set up with sandeel and another ledger rig with 2 hooks with mackerel on one sandeel on the other and usually the float rig does really well, I've been teaching a m8 this and that and I'm starting to think he's jinxed me because I never had trouble catching b4 he started coming along lol 😆

Nice fun on a nice day. Youre gonna need a seat box you keep that up. I always preferred to fish beneath the pier and just behind the surf line. A nd Im wondering it the swirl lines down current from the pier stanchions might not act as an edge structure....

Looks like a beautiful Summer's day, instead of early Spring. A few things; I think those fishing rules are lenient. It annoys me when people are greedy, or keep undersized fish. A cup of coffee just £1? Jaysus, I pay €4. Isn't that lower end-deck a new addition? When does the Bass season start over there? Lastly, always good to see a new video from you Matt.
@SaltwaterAngler
@SaltwaterAngler Жыл бұрын
Appreciate your comments as usual , i think the lower deck has come and gone over the years but not sure. I think you can say the bass season starts with the first big peeler crab moult in April , or at least when those fish are returning to their normal haunts having spawned - seems to be earlier each year.

Great video mate. Look a nice place to fish. Do you make, thoughs swim feeders or did you buy them.
@SaltwaterAngler

No found it in the bargain bin - i recon you could easily make one out of a bird feeder though as long as you dont have to cast far- Check them out on freshwater gear as swim feeders - but remember safety when casting the heavier leads

silly question but new to fishing how do your rods not just shoot off the side when you get a bite? just set the drag really loose?
@SaltwaterAngler
@SaltwaterAngler 2 ай бұрын
No it’s a good question - it’s the angle- the rod gets held on the bar when there’s a fish on it actually makes it more secure.
