Yup! I’d run skein or bags instead of shrimp tho for spring run. Besides that everything else should stay the same. Tight lines!

You guys are lucky you get to keep five out here in Oregon we only are allowed 1 sometimes 2 if we're lucky.

Because in Oregon at least the steelhead are native and endangered. Besides the hatchery fish of course which you can harvest. The Great Lakes have insane numbers of these non-native fish and it’s not like they are hurting an endangered species

@@williambrunjes1301 Our steelhead here in Oregon are not endangered, our fish and game department are a bunch of educated idiots. I live on the main Umpqua and between two of us we put over 20 in the net and list a bunch more in 3 weekends of fishing last winter.

Those are some feisty steel head! Do you get a lot of clipped fish or natural fish? Way more active then the river! Looks fun!

Please do as many pier trout/ salmon drops as you can. So nice to see lots of coverage on a tactic that is so common...but seldom anyone covers. Lord willing, coming up in 24-25 to bust some lips. Not even sure of the brand. Their just some cheap slip bobbers we found at a bait store. Just about any slip bobber will work

@@sbsoutdooraction3055 overall great content and I love the video. Just giving you a hard time. Do make sure to keep that rod bent to make sure you aren’t forcing the line to take on all the action. Drag helps too but you’ll lose less fish with a good proper bend. Tight lines!

@@ZenBJJ10p A bent rod is favorable at all times, EXCEPT when the fish is running. While the fish is ripping drag, pointing the rod at the fish will actually loosen the line tension and lessen the chances of breaking off. Think about it this way.. if the line is being pulled from the spool, then it's at the max tension which your drag will allow. A bent over rod can only add more tension to that line. Between that added tension and any potential friction from the eyelets, it becomes much more probable that the line will break. As a rule of thumb, always drop the rod tip during drag-screaming runs.

@@thrizzy5 interesting concept. I’ll try it. But I just lost a big steelhead doing that. I feel like the rod helps take the tension of the fish off the reel. Not add to it. But In theory your concept makes sense. Will have to read up more.

@@FishinPA keeps the float in the same spot so it doesn’t blow into the pier. Bait is suspended since the swivel with the leader to the bait sits on top of the bobber
