Thanks to this channel, this bass fisherman from Nebraska was able to go to the pier in Myrtle Beach this week and fish with confidence. I also went surf fishing for the first time today! I caught a small shark, black drum and croaker. Thank you! Love the channel.

I feel you, I just started fishing and feel intimidated by other experienced fishermen. I went to the pier last Sunday and it ended in total failure. I put my line on wrong and my reel got tangled. It took a while but I was able to finally figure it out.

I didn’t know that about dropping fish from high piers either. I’ve never fished from a pier that high but if I ever do, now I know to lower them down. I learn something new from you guys all the time. Thumbs up guys.

Here’s a tip I learned the hard way. Don’t use your teeth to cut the line. When you break your tooth or crack it, the dentist will fuss at you as he is prepping his/your bill. Always use clippers of some sort. ;-)

You guys never disappoint! Always have such great videos! Big thumbs up for poppa on his first Florida snook! And also thank you Erin for pointing out the trash situation! My wife and I fish there often and bless her heart I feel awful sometimes because she does the same thing and spends half her time cleaning up after the morons that don't realize it's not so much an issue for the anglers as it is for the sea life! Keep cranking them out guys! We'll keep watching and learning!

You had me at pick your shit up :) watched a good few of your vids and I've learned a lot so thank you guys. Haven't caught a single fish, but I'm really confident that the 3rd time I use my 10" Shakespeare firebird that I can catch something good. Respect to my teachers. Keep up the great work. Thank you again for the advise on rigs, bait and perspectives from different places. Ill be pier and river fishing as I live on the mouth of the river Tyne in Newcastle England. You've helped a great deal and inspired me a lot. Really pumped and excited to see what my first catch will be

We call it a slip sinker rig up here. That's the main rig that I use for river fishing big cats. You could also use a wolf river rig/ three way rig with a heavy pencil sinker. It will almost eliminate snags.

Great video Bubba! And you are correct about those who chase the big fish putting in their time. It takes lots of trial and error to get good at consistently landing big fish. It’s taken me roughly 12 years to figure out how to catch big fish in the surf. PS-A great rig to try if fishing over an area with looks of rocks/snags is a lemon rig or a modified slip bobber rig. On the modified slip bobber rig I make my “bobbers” out of pool noodles. That allows you to cruise the live bait right tight over them rocks without having to worry about getting snagged or broke off by a big fish.

You always teach proper etiquette and technique. Cudos for that. I am somewhat new to youtube and your channel (great stuff) but have been an avid fisherman since your dad was a boy. Have you mentioned the importance of using bronze or steel (not stainless) hooks? Important information: If you cannot remove the hook without harming the fish for a safe release, cut the line as close to the hook as possible. Bronze and steel hooks will disolve in the salt water without serious harm to the fish. Stainless steel wil not.really like your videos.

I've fished many a pier in southern California, and unless a Game Warden was standing on the pier they would keep any thing, no matter if it wasn't "legal" sized. As for that fish that was just dropped, even if it does not survive, it will not go to wast. Something will eat it, and the circle of life goes on. Those waves at that pier are pretty wild, never seen any thing like it.

That pier looks solid. The ones in Hatteras are shifty, as in ,the wind which comes howling out of the north or south blows the pier that way.
