I just heard a reporter say that Pierre is blaming Trudeau for the housing costs, Trudeau says well we don't do that. Who's fault is it then? High prices, rent, mortgages, food, all essentials. Trudeau has made promises way back to 2015.

We used to accept about 200,000 immigrants a year (correct me for the right number), too many to maintain a stable society in my opinion, and Trudeau wanted to increase it to about 350,000 a year. No wonder that the housing is a problem. Unfortunately, this huge immigration causes more problems beside housing.

Trudo and his buddies at the BoC lied to Canadians about how interest rates are going to be "low for a long time" and have now caused a financial catastrophe with their money printing schemes. Now anyone who has a mortgage will pay a heavy price at their next renewal. It's probably too late to repair all of the damage that trudo and his buddies have caused, but at least we can try! But seriously, your points today about where those homeowners will go after the banks take their homes in the coming years. It happened in the United States about 20 years ago. The difference here is that the Americans could live in tents throughout the winter. That can not happen in Canada when the nighttime conditions reach -40 C...

The affordability crisis started long before interest rates went up. I have worked in community mental health for 22 years, and affordability has been an issue for my clients the entire time. What we need is more affordable housing units and rent controls, neither of which will ever be enacted by a Conservative government. Developers are not going to drop the more profitable McMansions in favour of affordable housing unless strict government regulation mandates it. Freeing up land won't create affordable housing unless it is mandated to be affordable, and there is some sort of incentive to take on such projects. Speculators will keep buying up property which is the real reason for the outrageous prices Rents will not come down and landlords will not stop renovictions unless there is strict government controls on both. In a nut shell, the only way out of this crisis is with government intervention and regulation the likes of which we have never seen, and very type of control that conservatives have fought tooth and nail against for decades.

I'm not a fan of all this party politics and blame game. Do we not remember that the Harper government was in power for the years leading up to and including the 2008-2010 recession? Does that make the conservative government fully responsible? Stop being a prisoner to the moment and learn some history. Be humble and work for solutions rather than blame blame blame. Proportional representation would help solve this as we'd finally move forward and be forced to work together to find a solution rather than just throw crap back and forth hoping something sticks so we can win an election and stay in power.
