I'm also an American and I 100% agree. I would NEVER support a monarchy in America, but Britain isn't America and America isn't Britain. The British monarchy is over 1100 years old and in modern times is almost entirely ceremonial. There's no point in having an elected head of state if he/she has no real political power, especially in a country like Britain where the monarchy is such a vital institution. It's also important to our alliance with Britain because as an apolitical institution, they serve to bridge the gap between our government and the British parliament in a way that creates unified support in both countries.

Jamaica is the only commonwealth country that isn't even allowed to visit England without a visa. They approve every prime minister and law and when there is an important event like D-day anniversary or something like the Olympic or commonwealth games, they are there as well.
