River fishing Uk - I Take the kayak on the river Medway in search of pike and perch. Using lures and trolling around the river we are in for a epic day. However I had the biggest surprise of my fishing times yet!!

I catch some pikes last season there around TK Maxx area but not bigger then 50/55centimetres...this season im using only big lures like 90g miuras mouse or savage gear Rat lure, but not even bait.

It’s free to fish the rivers you just need your usual rod licence.

We're on the medway is this also you should have informed the ea as the cat is a invasive specie and shouldn't be in the medway

Well I know now I probably should have rang them. However nothing online about it. There’s quite a few in the Medway apparently

Yes but all catfish caught have only been here say and no actual proof your video is the actual Proof of a actual one been caught

Don't like the bloody thingsbut I don't think they're classed as invasive any more. I've seen photos of two different catfish from the Medway, they're definitely hushed up

technically speaking, Wels Catfish are an invasive species when it comes to UK rivers/canals and shouldnt be returned if caught. Its a different story if youre on a lake or private fishery that stocks them as they cant get out or spread to anywhere else. The Canal & River Trust want them out because leaving them in the rivers/canals damages the ecosystem for all the native species of fish and other aquatic wildlife. Those fish will eat almost ANYTHING (even small birds) and they are pretty tough as well which means they can survive pretty terrible water conditions. I would consult the C&RT for more information and also future reference. Very nice catch anyway. Looks like its been feeding pretty well!
