I'll give you a proper answer Michael 😄 the thought process was that having it left in might save the rear bumper from a knock or two. Say...dropping off a ledge it might catch the towball rather than damage the bumper. That was the thinking behind it anyway, whether it's legitimate technique or not is up for debate.

I actually felt like 300km was a pretty short day! I think the mood had a lot to do with planning too tightly and therefore having expectations. You can't crack the shits if you don't set expectations. I think that's the battle plan for the future 🙂

@@boyfromthehills2162 Better to hit a pile of interesting places close together (you know, 50 km apart or whatever they are) and see plenty than do lots of km's to get to some distant place. It's not like you are invading Russia and have to get to Moscow before dinner-time. There's a whole lot of rampaging and pillaging to be had all along the way too, so just, you know, rampage and pillage and have fun!

@@Alex.G I also take binoculars and my bird-book to check out the local birds and gold pan and kit for those lumps of gold that might be found and my metal detector (home-built, I'm an electronics engineer and it's as good as a $5k Minelab) for looking for meteorites and those, you know, lumps of gold and I've got a HF radio for chatting with people at long, long distances (got the licence for it) and for contacting the VK737 network just in case. But I see you have a very nice drone with camera. I must get one of those, good for looking over hills instead of climbing to see what is there etc. Very nice idea.

I certainly had the bird book with me and referenced that a few times! I think i had a gold pan too, but I don't recall using it. Home made metal detector is a great idea, especially if that's your profession! And yeah, drones are pretty handy for checking out an area, especially if you lose the track!

They have been known to have a cheeky nibble yeah! Or that one time when a woman claims a dingo stole her baby at the uluru campground. There's a movie about it and all 😂

i think a guy who was passed out drunk on a bush track got his ankle gnawed a few years back.

They pack hunt & will track you.. its not the one you see, but the ones you don't that's the problem.. much like the lion or tiger.. If your alone, surrounded.. use a piece of firewood to protect yourself..

It all depends on preference. The Prado is the perfect size for 2 people, and especially as they aren't really into the tougher tracks it does a good job. There's always a camper trailer if they need to haul more gear 🙂
