On this project we are working on a new dock with double boathouse under one roof two boatlifts. All the decking will be gray Thru-flow Synthetic decking. All the pilings on this project are piling wrap to prevent bore worm infestation and they are all driven down with a vibratory hammer all dock pilings or 6 inch 20 feet long driven into the soil 9 to 10 feet

Man they are in there!!, been beating on them with a sledge and even resorted to using a bosch demo hammer. Also, what kind of tools do you guys use near the waterline? Why the rocks in front of sheeting, Big waves ? Would the sheeting be enough on a lake or canal.?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 2 жыл бұрын
Vertical sea walls are actually illegal in Florida. With the installation of lime stone riprap in front of the wall this makes the wall permitable. Lime stone helps break up wave action and any sand that might be traveling with that wave is distributed amongst the riprap which could in some places build up beaches. The only place we don’t have to install the riprap is in canals it is not really necessary in these areas if the wall is built properly you would not need it in the lake either. Thanks for watching 👍

@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman Ай бұрын
Thank you for watching my channel and your comment. I guess the proper terminology would have been the dock is not parallel with the repairing line. Permit requires us to stay 25 foot off of this line. With the angle of the old dock and extended it out further would’ve crossed over the riparian line and closer than the 25 foot required to stay off. Hopefully this answers the question. 😄

Piling wrap is not at the same height, the piling wrap nails should be within 3" not 6", the pilings are leaning in on the left for sure, use spreaders in the future to make sure you dont lose your load. 13 years wow that’s a long time. Good job I hate how long it takes for the guys to let the plum-bob settle. I’d like to get a quick level. We compensate for the tape while we’re leveling checking both sides. On the inside of the seawalls I do like for the Pilings to be level so that both wailers run plumb to each other so my wall does an angle which I know make Pilings leans just a bit. 👍

why drive them upside down?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Depends on what you’re calling upside down. The butt end or the largest end of the Piling should be installed in the water on docks. This makes it harder for the Piling to be pulled out with a bigger end in the ground during a storm search. If you put the smaller end in once you break that suction with the storm surge uplift, it’s easy for that pole to come out. Now building a house on Piling’s, you want to put the skinny end down because it is loadbearing of the house.
