I am a descendant of Indian Indentured laborers who left India in 1873, now living in New York. Never visited India, don't know Indian politics firsthand. Watched a lot of videos of Shashi Tharoor. Read his books. Liked his views, especially his non-embrace of Hindutva. His belief in secularism. He understands world diplomacy and politics. He has command of local issues and national issues, as I learn it from reading the International press. (Indians at home may have a different perspective). Shashi is a scholar, a walking encyclopedia. But can he win a National Election as head of Congress? Scholars rarely win national elections. Think Trump. Think Modi. Think Bolsonaro. If India would elect a scholar to be Prime Minister, it would be a great breakthrough. And, most importantly Tharoor would bring new respectability for India in the world community of nations.

Congress need to promote this man and make him the face of party just like BJP did with modi. i guarantee this man has the potential to be the next prime minister of india ...If i were rahul gandhi i would have done it already.so it is my humble request to congress party that please make it happen #voice of a common man

My contact with the outside world is abysmal, my thoughts are not. I have witnessed the slow poisoning by the ivies to the tree known as India: from framing Gandhi as a sex addict, propagating Motilal as a muslim to making Godse the true patriot despite Gandhi being the father of the nation. I came across these thoughts and opinions as young as when i was 12,13 years old, back then it was just nonsensical chatter and opinions that i thought were beneath me to address or oppose. Alas, the snowballed result of these misguided thoughts has brought upon a political scenario where an alternative does not exist, and none with a beating heart talk about issues that can actually help all around them lead a respectable life because those who can are too busy opposing. Progressing and cooperating together as a critic and policy maker has turned into binary options at passing down judgements. I am so afraid as the citizen of the future India, where acceptance would only be a bleak speck at the horizon that many wish to overlook. a message from an accepting Indian.

Always a pleasure to listen to Dr. Shashi Tharoor. He gives me HOPE... Inspirational... He is a man of great intellect and vision for India and its people as well as the world. He was wrongly denied the position of Secretary General of United Nations. Some powerful political leaders in the world were fearful of his Intellect and abilities. These leaders preferred the most mediocre and impotent leaders to head UN.( Exception: Kofi Annan) We want India to remain a secular society, we want Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikhs live side by side in Harmony... India needs to pull millions of poor into Middle class and upper middle class through educational opportunities for all children.

Never heard Mr.Shashi Tharoor speak in such a eloquent manner. He clears very bit of doubt & what a engaging way of presentation.

We really need to know more from him as much as we can . Such discussions should be in our trend . Every medium of journalism that most people have access to has become a polarised machine of spreading their versions of history , news and anything . Such a mass level of polarisation has resulted into spread of partisanship where two different ideology can't exist amicably with each other is truly adverse to the ethos of our country .
