pill friends forever. this album was the soundtrack to every solo roadtrip i took in college and is forever cemented to me as one of the best records i'll ever hear. it feels like a lightning in a bottle type thing, we're never getting something like this ever again but i'm so fortunate to know and have nostalgia for these songs.

I think I know exactly what you mean. In fact, I discovered the music my aunt was involved in after she had passed, as she died in 1994 supposedly of a diacetylmorphine overdose. I was not born until 1997. I am 21, love bands like pill friends, sparklehorse, janitor joe, (sandy)alex g, euphoria again, sam ray, pixies, neil young, joy division, elliott smith, daniel johnston, roky erickson, the beatles, etc. a lot, a lot of music but nothing i have heard, for me personally of course i must say, matches the unique qualities and sheer authenticity of music written by pill friends/ryan wilson

This album was the soundtrack to my first mushroom trip. Pill friends had been here through everything. Still in active addiction right now trying really hard to survive. Struggling with mental illness and homelessness. But fuck I love this album. Tattooed pill friends on my arm. Rest in peace Ryan

So I'm, say, 7 years out of (my country's rough equivalent to) Highschool. Actually, I never listened to music like that back then (mostly Hardcore, Metal and Punk). But now I imagine me and my friends hanging out in gardens, smoking and drinking and listening to this like in a fucking flashback in a melancholic movie about losing your youth and ideals. What is going on here?!

Same feeling, me and my old group 9 years ago used to be exclusively metalheads, but the ones I still have all agree this matches so much of our past. The sound that these guys (and even Title Fight to an extent) made expressed nostalgia of exploring forest/strip mall locations you spent with all your old friends, while their lyrics mimic the true anguishes we carried, whether from histories of abuse, loss, or abandonment, we all fell into the pit of drugs and/or chaos feeling like the world deemed us worthless for simply existing, not knowing if we had a place in the world to begin with. Some of us managed to grow from that pain, and are expressive to help others or to keep fighting those memories, but there are so many like Ryan that I knew or still know where they want to fade away, and never come back, no matter the consequences. I wish I did more to talk to them to this day, but I know their lives were not up to me.
