This breakdown is just as entertaining as you producing hits. This is the part of a producer/ engineer that you don't see. Just like at most studio's, they don't tell you, half of the gear has been modded and you would think that after spending X amount of currency for said piece of equipment that it would be perfect the way it is, wrong! Everything can be manipulated to become your own. That is the real art of music production, to make your own sound and allow it to have its own character.

great insights! I soldered together a YOCTO 808 clone. It took me a solid week of soldering through-hole components for about 6-7 hours a day, but the result is I have my very own 808 that due to all the slight variances in capacitors and resistors is uniquely my sound. And I absolutely love it as much as you do yours! Clive seems like a great guy too with a lot of knowledge. PS. for whatever its worth - I built my YOCTO with an external "wall wart" transformer/psu. There was a choice for an internal model, but I was a bit nervous about using an internal transformer, as this was my third ever soldering project, and I wasn't confident to do anything with mains. The only thing I regret was not purchasing an overlay mod called the cocteau, which added a lot of the mod functions that yours has (tunung knobs et al.)

Watch out for induced and introduce noises from the long leads between the PCB and the external adjustment pots and the pot wipers. If too long you might receive unwanted AM radio broadcasts on your TR-808. Also as a bit of trivia, each 280mm-300mm in a length of wire introduces about 1 nanosecond of delay depending upon its velocity factor..
