I believe it is using a uncommon chord progression, so it created a "off" feeling for the chorus. Tempo are the same.

@@BenDover-yy9qe it starts with the bridge as intro. then back to the verse and chorus repeat. As bridge is off progression and it sound slower but actually tempo remain the same.

@@CereDulce37the song has the most abstract, dark lyrics in her discography. There's a line where she asks the object of her desire to set his heart afire and give her his sizzling blood. But the central phrase is "when loved by the one she loves, a woman becomes a bird."
