Jimmy Bryant was one of Fender’s first superstar endorsers. I always thought he used flatwounds on his Teles but I later learned he used round wounds. His duets with Speedy West on steel were incredible! Thank you for this!!

Great solo Damian! I've learned so many of your lessons and it's made a real difference to my playing. Your Rockabilly and Jump blues DVDs are essential study and pretty much guarantee to make you a better improviser if you make the effort to learn, absorb and analyse all the licks in different keys and positions. Fantastic stuff. Thank you for all you do. Cheers. Guy.

Just curious Damian, do you read music? I would think the players you emulate so well, Jimmy Bryant, Charlie Christian, etc would be very difficult to transcribe via notation. I'll be downloading your lessons asap. I love your choice of guitars. The Guild Manhatten is right up my alley. It looks like it has a really chunky neck which would be a problem for my wee little hands. Still, it's perfect for jump blues, rockabilly and country-esque licks. Take care, and keep posting your knowledge on YT.

Damian, you nailed another great video. Jimmy Bryant's playing was incredibly fast, clean, and sounded perfect on about everything I've ever heard him play. His work with Speedy West was simply jaw dropping! I always loved his pick guard artwork too. Great video!

Thanks Damian for the great lesson as always. Your fingering and attack are so clean and spot on that it makes it sound like you couldn't miss if you tried. I recently bought a new Telecaster Ultra from Sweetwater and I can't put it down, so this is my lick of the day.

Django was Jimmy's main influence. BTW, have any of Django's moves made an appearance in rockabilly. Of course, Django influenced jump blues. Indeed, Charlie Christian was well versed in Django's music and could play some of his solos note-for-note.

Damian, you should listen to the solo on the B-side called Some Like it Hot. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Its so far ahead of what everyone else was doing at the time

Yes, that solo is absolutely incredible. Jimmy was so talented on the guitar. Always a pleasure to listen to him. :)

Love Jimmy Bryant. Do you remember an early rock-n-roller by the name of Macy Skipper? He did 'Bop pills'. Just a great tune all around. I have a Squier 50s vibe Tele which I love. I just wanted to ask about the neck radius of your Guild Manhattan. Is it unusually chunky? For some reason I have the hands of newt, but am really intrigued by the Guild. Just wondering if it's a good fit.
@Damianblf2 жыл бұрын
I really like my Guild X-175 Manhattan. I like how it looks, sounds and feels. The neck is a vintage soft U-shaped profile. Thanks for watching the video.

Damian, I love your channel! I'm currently trying to learn the solo from "Black Slacks" by Joe Bennett and The Sparkletones but it's a bit challenging because the tuning is somewhere between A and Bb. I would very much appreciate it pretty pretty please with sugar on top if you'd make a video with tabs to the solo in standard tuning. Thank you!
@Damianblf2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Mike. Black Slacks is a personal favorite of mine. I'll write down your request into my request book. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

@@Damianblf Thanks, man. I think I was able to figure most of the solo out but who knows? Its tough to learn a solo by ear when it's in between keys. I appreciate you.
