I had this taxi ride from one of Moscow's airports into the city about 1999 past lots of half completed office and apartment blocks many needing to be restarted. The driver explained that they were being built with no money. All the contractors would apply their trades to the construction and would be paid with a share of the apartments when finished. It was all done on trust. On the CD player: Pink Floyd

This is by far the best version of Any Colour You Like I've heard. It has such a lovely blues groove to it. This might be the period when Pink Floyd were at their best, when they dared to experiment and allowed themselves to let loose. I once heard someone describe Led Zeppelin as psychedelic blues, and as much as I love Led Zep, I think that description fits the Floyds even better.
@henryalbrecht29306 жыл бұрын
Per Sjödin Led is definitely bluesy and psychedelic... but I agree. Pink Floyd is quintessential bluesey psychedelic

"...just every moment of it so precise and perfect artistry....". "Dark Side" certainly is that. Especially so when you realise that Claire Torry - who was called in to sing "The Great Gig In The Sky" totally improvised the whole performance ! Yes that's right - she was told to just do whatever came to her as she went along ! The result could / should have been chaotic, but is actually a melodious tune that has a structure to it ! Quite astonishing when you think on it.

Usually lyrics are expressed in words, but with Pink Floyd they are also expressed through music, without the need for lyrics. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say that a David Gilmour guitar chord, or Richard Wright’s keyboard equals a thousand words, you just have to close your eyes and open your ears to read them. In (Any Color You Like) the thought behind this song expresses the illusion that man has the power to choose. At least that's what Roger Waters said.

I can’t help but love this particular time as Floyd has found their feet yet still strive for new sonic solutions. A beautiful time to be alive and graced by the inventiveness of landmark bands. Always a pleasure and listened to this via my own stock just a few days ago.

Any colour you like es una de mis favoritas, nunca había escuchado esta versión, no tiene madre, puedo escucharla una y otra vez todo el día y entrar al nirvana con esto sin duda alguna, ya hasta me he vuelto guitarrista con tal de alcanzar algo tan hermoso.

Terrific version of one of my personal fave PF songs. Dark Side is to modern music what War and Peace is to the novel, or what The Godfather is to movies, or what Apollo 11 is to transportation, etc., etc.

Went on a wild day trip to Brighton in 1970 - the heart beat thumping around the Dome, the atmosphere, lights and the sound - hooked - 1973 Earls Court and the plane flying over the audience and exploding back stage - stunned silence from the capacity crowd for 5 seconds - unbelievable - oh to actually relive those moments again........

Imagine just vibing to this live on an eighth of mushrooms or 200ug

Hey man I used to do mushrooms and acid, I’ve listened to dark side on acid. just wanna say God loves you man he changed my life a year ago, psychedelic experiences feel really real but I promise Jesus is the real deal, the other stuff is only a counterfeit of the true freedom you have in Gods love. Bless you man

Haha yo 200ug is too overwhelming for me man. I usually split it into half a tab and pop for a mellow trip. Damn fun.

Love this song so much it's my ringtone now hahahahh. Best version of this song by far. Notice how the song has no repetitive direction. Just a free for all of a bunch of good notes.

The classic line-up, never to be dismissed for their eloquent sympathy with each other, as their guitarist unleashes a remarkably fluid solo.

I love that they improvised many of their songs live. We get to see how their songs evolved to what we hear later on official releases.
