In my twenties I used to watch "Live at Pompeii" in my room with lights off, laying on my bed and travelling...best music movie ever.

Remember that, I did the same. Best days of my live. Still 60 now. I do the same yet

There's something so cathartic about this performance. The way all of their instruments blend together, absolutely mind-blowing. Pink Floyd was such a solid live band.

Isso não é Pink Floyd e somente Floyd, não existe espaço para comercialização aqui e puro som de blenfiadores. Quem não souber o que são os benfiadores e só escutar o final quando Roger chega a associar e expele, assovia e expele Assovia...

I grew up with Floyd. I didn't discover this absolute gem until my 20s, though, around 2003-4. This was the best thing on the Pompeii film, followed closely by Echoes.

Lol, you sound like me. My dad got umma gumma when I was about 18 or 19. That's when the pink Floyd experience told hold. A lot of psychedelics were had with Floyd.

Waters' bass line really drives this song. So cool
@amandastevenson6101 Жыл бұрын
For such a simple two note line with the odd flourish here and there (as reprised in some of their later work: Sheep and Goodbye Cruel World both feature this same two note bassline), it really does have the required dreamy, haunting effect. The man's a genius.

Nick Mason absolutely on fire with the drums.
@ClonicTonic8 жыл бұрын
+MechaMonk Seriously though, he's always been known as a sub-par drummer, but that's when you're comparing "technical" and flashy skills. As far as how he can carry a beat to match the band's playing, he's phenomenal, and always has been, and this is a PERFECT example of it
@UlyssesM8 жыл бұрын
+ClonicTonic I agree

I find is earlier work including this to be his best.. He shreds the entire Pompeii movie.

+Matthew Radke he definitely had the most freedom in their earlier work, as Roger Waters started to take over, Mason faded a bit. Still great albums though

In my opinion, this is the best version/performance of "Careful". My favorite part is the well executed crescendo that begins at around 2:45, which completely explodes into an all-out jam at 3:24. Notice how everyone is really at the top of his game in this video: Dave's (obvious) mastery of the guitar, Rick adding incredible keyboards, Nick tearing up the drums, and Roger's bass. Roger, in particular, adds a very prominent bass contribution to this song, I think.

Now forgotten film, but VERY groovy in my teens was, "Zabriskie Point". Plot to complicated to summarise but, at the end, a huge, beautiful, steel & glass house, built on a hill in the desert, explodes in extreme slow motion -- all to this track. An incredible and quite moving experience!

What i especially love about pink floyd is its all genuine music no copy's or phoney's here all original material for you to get lost in and all thanks to Roger Keith Barrett for giving the band a base to start on a man's journey through the infinite of his mind, David gilmour is probably the only man on earth that can make a guitar literally sing, Richard Wright with his mind-blowing ability to write a song 🎵co founder Roger Waters again amazing song writer and bass player and not forgetting Nicholas Berkeley Mason the original founding member of pink floyd Bob Klose had a small part in the early days before they became pink floyd also ✌️

To the PF fans who only listen to DSOTM,WYWH...and possibly the wall,you simply have to listen to their back catalogue pre DSOTM you will be stunned and realise what you've been missing,it's like a musical jigsaw puzzle that gets better and experiences the band constantly evolving both lyrically and musically it's an epic learning curve that will leave you breathless and puffing and panting and drooling for more ...it's that ... simple!!!!!

I've clicked through so many videos, through so many incredible, weird ambient landscapes... I feel like I'm going on a train trip, seeing a succession of crazy, never-before-seen scenes from history, important, weird musics through the window as I pass.. there's so much to explore. So many places to alight and dwell in the ambiences that are on offer. This stop, in particular, is brilliant; Faith of a musician!

I heard the album Umagumma in a darkened room at a friend's house while at university in 1970. I was completely captivated by this album. Dark Side of the Moon landed in my ears not long after. I really want the present younger generation to listen to this music and understand the imagination and creativity that went into making these albums given the equipment they had at that time.

I feel like this song is about a guy name Eugene, with exceptional skills with the guitar. His rise to fame is imminent. Roger waters is singing him to be careful with the incoming fame, due to his skills with his 'axe'. People will begin to listen to everything he says, offer him drugs, etc. Pink Floyd was a band that tried to stay away from the spotlight as much as possible. I don't think Waters was even on TV in North America until the 2000s.
