David Gilmore is the heart and soul of Pink Floyd.

My mum was at this concert and still says it was one of the best nights of her life. Happy birthday fella!

There absolutely was not a lot of people in and out of Pink Floyd. There were four core members from 1968 through the early 80s. (Rodger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright). Those four made all of these albums that you're listening to. Syd Barrett was a casualty of the drug culture of the 60s and was dropped from the band in '68 *before* they became the international Superstars they would become. And Roger left AFTER they made all their classic albums of the 70s. So there was not a lot of personnel change. All of their iconic classic albums that are played so heavily on classic rock stations and they toured the world with, were recorded by the same four guys. The "Wish You Were Here" album from '75 was *about* Syd... it didn't include him. He had nothing to do with the making of that album. Hope this helps. Happy Birthday!! 🎂

Happy 21st! Great way to celebrate with that iconic Gilmour solo! Syd Barrett formed the band in 1965, with Roger Waters (bass), Nick Mason (Drums) and Richard Wright (Keyboards). Gilmour joined in 1967, Barrett left shortly after. Waters left in 1985 so was not in this performance. It would be fun to see you react to their early singles with Syd - 'Arnold Layne' and 'See Emily play' as they are very different and no one seems to request them. Cheers.

The Pulse Concert was the last performance of the Division Bell tour. I was there, same show at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, just 2 weeks before the Pulse Concert. I was mesmerized and in awe. I recall that I was shouting during Gilmore's Comfortably Numb solo. "This cannot be happening! This just cannot be real! OMG! OMG!" I had tears in my eyes. Top 5 Most memorable moments of my life. I'm so glad you are discovering Pink Floyd. And I hope your 21st Birthday was awesome.

Syd Barrett was one of the founding members who slowly succumbed to mental illness. Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wight, and new member David Gilmore were forced to kick Syd out of the band. You can tell Waters, Wright, Mason, and Gilmore never got over it. 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond', 'Wish You Were Here' are written about Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd sent him royalties from those songs until Barrett died.

I am so glad to see a young person that actually has a grasp on what real music is. A song is supposed to take you on a journey and bring you back feeling better after the trip. I have been a PF fan since the 60s.

I saw this tour Live at the Pontiac Silver Dome just outside of Detroit approx. 6-8 months before this video was recorded when they played Wish You Were Here the crowd was singing so loud the band stopped and let the crowd do the first verse 80 -90,000 people all singing at the same time lots of people in the crowd were crying they got so emotional over it. Pink Floyd isn't just music it's an experience.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY youngblood! Syd Barrett was long gone when this came out (mental problems). The song "Wish you were her" is about/dedicated to Syd! Syd was one of the founding members but he developed mental problems (the rumor mill have often alluded to his extended use of LSD) and had to leave the band !

Happy birthday bro, all the members of Pink Floyd are extremely talented, by themselves or with the band. Pink Floyd is an amazing band that puts out extraordinary music no matter who's running the show. David Gilmore solos are unmatched but the creative aspects of the band rely on all of them. Look at the background singers, always amazing but usually different people asserting those spots. Theres is one backup singer with medium length black hair that probably is the prettiest of all. My opinion on that

A Happy Birthday today! A good day to listen to Pink Floyd. I have been loving themm since I was a teenager long ago. I was sad that Roger left the band, and I was angry at him for the way it went. I miss the lyrics and the depth Roger brought into the music. But I love the way Pink Floyd went forward after he left. I also enjoy Rogers solo works, but not nearly as much as Pink Floyd.

There’s a really good pink Floyd tribute band that tour every year. Australian Pink Floyd, I’ve seen them a couple of times and they’re amazing. It’s the closest you’ll get to the real thing.

this is gilmour leading with nick mason on drums and richard wright on keyboards, the original lineup minus syd and roger. roger was out touring floyd songs and calling his new band pink floyd but the three originals were the ones making new albums of floyd songs in the 80s and 90s with gilmour. I saw waters big The Wall stage in red square in Moscow in the 2000s and it was a cool setup. at some point they settled the legal dispute I think with roger giving up the name but not sure about that precisely. this is pink floyd though, they have Guy Pratt as the permanent bassist replacing waters, plus Jon Carin as their regular second keyboardist, Tim Renwick hiding in the back on various guitars, and Gary Wallis on the second drum kit plus the three backup vocalists, Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine and Durga McBroom . What a touring powerhouse. So much sound and the light show is pretty solid too. two guitar players, two keyboard players, two drummers, three backup singers, and a bass player rockin' it.

Saw this in El Paso, TX! My wife's 1st concert! We skipped college classes to see it but bribed our way out by giving Profs t-shirts lol! (Btw 20 yard line center stage)

They always had soo many laser lights at all their concerts it took 2 big rigs just to hold all the generators to operate the lights.

I've watched over 300 bands live in my time, but my very favourite concert was Pink Floyd in Brisbane in 1988. Fucking awesome. But you must do Pink Floyd's Echoes live at Pompey. My favourite song of all.

Spring break 1989 (3/18). I turned 21. Went skiing with a bunch of friends at Wildcat in NH and stayed in our roommates grandmother‘s cabin. We watched heavy metal, Highlander, and the wall. Beer and a VHS player. What a week!
