@@kristofferanensen7983 You're probably right. But the genius thing about Pink Floyd is that everyone can associate it with something else but the feelings remain the same. No other band has accompanied me my entire (57 year old) life. And btw thanks for this beautiful one Answer

Happy 50th Anniversary to all us Pink Floyd fans. My first time hearing Dark Side Of The Moon was in my parents basement on their stereo with my best bud and a wine skin plus 3 fat ones in 1973. If you don't believe in the divine your not listening. 🙏 🍁

Around 6:53 in your video you say: "I don't know how to explain it, it's a powerful piece, just leaves you with your imagination". This song became one of the most important of this album, and yet originally, this "instrumental" track was only intended to fill the gap at the end side A on the album. What a wonderful way to fill an empty space. In Montreal, the three singers received a standing ovation of more than three minutes at the end of this song.

You get it exactly. It is so emotionally powerful. One of Rick's greatest compositions. My sister died unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. This video is the first time I've dared to listen to Great Gig since then. I probably shouldn't have chosen to do so during a break at work - I had to shut my door until I could stop crying. But, it's important to feel these emotions and let them out. In the end, we must all go to our own Great Gig in the Sky. I miss you, my sister.

Even though this song is about coming to terms with your own death, in your last moments, it somehow also feels like a warm blanket. Others have probably already said that nothing can touch the original studio version with Clare Torey, but I personally like this version with three different vocalists, each representing different stages of grief, pain, and finally acceptance.

Beautiful reaction ! - Great Gig In The Sky - is one of the those songs that singers want to do. The original was done by the great Clare Torry. She set the standard and didn't know what they wanted. The band didn't do much talking and All they gave her for direction was to portray death & horror. After 2 takes she left the studio not knowing that they loved what she had done.

As if this piece wasn't emotional enough, there is the heart breaking knowledge that the first of the singers for this performance, Sam Brown, is no longer able to sing like this. She had produced a number of solo albums in her career but then suffered damage to her vocal chords some years back now, but still remains a positive person and hopes that maybe one day it may improve. She has tried to find ways around this with her latest album, by fully utilising current studio technology to pitch correct her damaged vocals, the technique is widely employed throughout contemporary music, but the majority of artists would not be so honest about using it.
