@@jacobpatrick3412 of all the Pink Floyd songs that were recorded, David Gilmour only played bass on 19 of them. Roger Waters played the rest. The entire Darkside of the moon was Roger Waters playing bass as was wish you were here album. This notion that David Gilmour played 50% of the bass on Pink Floyd albums it’s just not true.

I've always loved the story telling aspect of the wall. Floyd did such a great job of building stunning and unique music around the story. There's no repetitive chords and choruses thrown in to soak up time. Instead, Gilmour plays a lead guitar so expressive that it moves the story along in sections without lyrics. Floyd was just a band above.

This track was not included in the movie. Other material not included in this album was included in the movie. The little "ting" in the worm section is from Echoes. The Laughing pterodactyls in "Is There Anybody Out There?" are also from Echoes. This album is chock full of motifs and ideas from earlier ones.

Did everyone realize that on important songs like Mother, Hey You, Comfortable Numb and Run Like Hell, they both sing: Sir Gilmour with his pleasant pop voice that tends to become monotonous over time (see PULSE), rebel Water with his brittle voice that gets annoying over time (solo albums). Together, however, they are ingenious and bring an additional field of tension to the topic and music. Especially recognizable in the video Reunion Live 8 2005 Comfortable Numb. No fraction Gilmour, no fraction Waters😏✌

@@diegoandres5306 Although I saw PF live twice in the 70's, I only asked myself this question in 2005 Live 8 at Comfortable Numb (the 1st verse doesn't match the album version). At that time I researched on the Internet e.g. English Wikipedia with lead vocals specified (interesting the difference RW-DG or DG-RW). If you look at old videos, e.g. from the last concert together Earl's Court in 1980, then it is obvious with the overlapping parts in the verses. After hearing the album version today, I "wouldn't put my hand on fire", i.e. he could have just sung along to the chorus Run, Run,... . However, with the other songs (I didn't list all of them) the alternation according to "voice color" is obviously recognizable. Of course we agree that with Animals at the latest the credits - especially as far as the music is concerned - should have been redistributed; at least that is my opinion (small parts of a song by Dogs, for example, have already been played on the Dark Side Tour; e.g. Yes also did this on the Relayer tour with Awaken), or short more band democracy! All the best to YOU, have fun with all kind of good music✌

One of the great recordings of all time... The drums and basic tracks were recorded on a 16 track 2 inch machine and then mixed down to 2 tracks of a 24 track machine so that overdubs and vocals could be recorded on the other 22 tracks of that tape ... When it came down to mix, the 16 track machine was brought back and synced with the 24 track, providing pristene analog tracks for the drums, giving them the clean punchy sound that you hear in this track and all over this album... When analog tape is played back over and over, sound quality diminishes and drum sounds (normally laid down first and permanently in a multitrack recording) rely on good sound quality for their wide frequency response and dynamics. Won the Grammy for best engineered recording that year...

"Hey You, out there in the hall..." More than just a song about homelessness but about anyone feeling isolated and misunderstood. Before doing anything violent or drastic, talk to someone. Hopefully it's someone with wisdom, not a hateful agenda. Definitely a song suggesting Syd Barrett would have been very happy if some sort of holistic mental health services were available. Every needless act of violence is a mental health crisis. Including Nuclear Proliferation. However, murdering Ukrainian women and children ON THEIR OWN SOIL to make some 'point' about nuclear weapons race is unfortunately not a Nobel Prize candidate. We need a new award: Lump of Dump Trophy. For the Trump-Putin unflushed lumps of trumps circulating among us... HEY YOU!!

You are too pro not to do the whole thing in one shot. The album is a landmark in music. And politics. It is, in my view, the essential Rock Opera. It deals with themes of War, Fascism, Abandonment, Fame and quite a bit more than we have time for here. Just deep dive the band's whole discography, there's nothing there but more to learn for all of us.
